Week 25

Happy Tuesday and welcome back!  Last week was a much slower week and this week is the last of basketball for at least a month so that will help even more.  I'd rather spend time by our pool than in a gym this summer so let's make that happen!  We're also trying to plan a small camping get away which will be the extent of our summer travels this year so I hope we can at least make that happen.

Here are last week's pictures:

Day 168- Monday, 6/17/19
It's the golden hour and these boys just finished their game for today. Time for a quick meeting before we all head home across the river..

Day 169- Tuesday, 6/18/19
Out on a walk with Bella I found this heart-shaped chip in the sidewalk.  The shadow within really made it stand out and catch my eye.

Day 170- Wednesday, 6/19/19
Tyler was able to make the basketball game today and had fun heckling the other team while he watched his brother play.

Day 171- Thursday, 6/20/19
Tuesdays and Thursdays are our slow days right now since there is no basketball to travel to so Brandon is enjoying his extra time this afternoon hanging out with Bella and then later it seemed like the perfect day for a night swim or rather night games in the pool.  It's the best way to beat the heat when you have the time.  Justin was still at work training for rock-wall shifts so sadly he missed the fun.

Day 172- Friday, 6/21/19
TGIF!  It was a busy multitasking type of Friday which meant most of my day was spent at the bench, but I pressed on and got it all done so I could get out and start my weekend.

Day 173- Saturday, 6/22/19
Justin worked in the early morning light to bang out graduation thank you cards and then a couple hours later we dropped Tyler at the airport so he could head back to school for summer sessions.   Good luck kiddo!  We'll miss having you home for the summer.

Day 174- Sunday, 6/23/19
It's been hot around here even at night so we decided to make root-beer floats to help cool us down.  We were inspired by the recent 100th birthday of the A&W Restaurant that first opened in Lodi (a small city just south of us).  Who knew?

Wait!  One more:

June's Family Photo

We had to get a quick shot just before Tyler left especially since we're not sure when our next full family picture will be.  I hope sometime in September but that's still up in the air.

OK--all done!  See you next week.

Week 24

Welcome back and Happy Tuesday!  Last week was another eventful one and now I'm hoping things will slow down a bit so I can catch up other things that have been put aside.  I'm ready for a nice relaxing summer.  Let's make it happen!

Until then here are last week's pictures:

Day 161- Monday 6/10/19
Monday's back at work especially after a few days off are full of catching up on emails.  Let's get through this so I can get back to the science!  Then there is the heat--triple digits for the next few days.  At least the pool helps.

Day 162- Tuesday, 6/11/19
Justin starts his new summer job at the rec center today.  He's part of the facilities support team and is super happy to be working again.

Day 163- Wednesday, 6/12/19
I wanted these flowers to be in bloom a few days ago for the grad party but they weren't quite ready.  Apparently today is the day and  I love seeing my yard come alive.  Hopefully the extreme heat won'y just burn them all.  At least at basketball games the gym is nice and cool.  Brandon had his second basketball game of the week this evening.

Day 164- Thursday, 6/13/19
I drove to LA today to help Tyler move out of his dorm and onto the frat house for the summer.  He can't actually move into his room yet but he can at least store his stuff in a corner designated for him until then.  We'll stay the night and drive home tomorrow.  Meanwhile back at home Brandon and John are pulling for a Warriors win.  Unfortunately it did not end well but they will remain true fans through thick and thin.

Day 165- Friday, 6/14/19
This morning before driving home Tyler showed me where his new apartment will be next year which was cool to see.  It's in a nice area and he's ready to be out of the dorms especially for his senior year.  Then we made the 6 hour drive to West Sac and were super happy to be home.  Tyler will stay for a week before flying back to start summer session.

Day 166- Saturday, 6/15/19
The whole family is home so we took in a movie together and saw Rocketman.  Wow!--some of those costumes are super wild and it was cool to see how many of the songs came to be.

Day 167- Sunday, 6/16/19
Happy Father's Day!  We celebrated John by working together to make a nice breakfast, enjoying a relaxing day, and then grubbing on a nice meal at the Broderick Roadhouse.

That's it!  Hope everyone else had a great Father's Day and see you next week.

Week 23

Welcome back and happy Tuesday!  What a week we had last week.  It was great to have my parents in town helping us celebrate Justin for graduation, plus basketball started up again for Brandon, it got really hot really quick and then really windy for a bit, and school officially ended so we are ready to let the summer fun begin.

Here's a look at last week's pictures:

Day 154- Monday, 6/3/19
This evening was the first summer league basketball game for Brandon and his team did well.  Justin also worked on decorating his cap and helped a friend decorate one too.

Day 155- Tuesday, 6/4/19
This morning Justin and his fellow Bridgeway Island K-8 classmates returned to their first school for a "Grad Walk" to help inspire the younger kids.  That was fun to see, and I think the past teachers loved it even more seeing how the kids have grown and being proud of who they have become.  In the afternoon my parents flew in from Texas to stay for a bit, and as a graduation present they gave Justin a family-heirloom pocket-watch that belonged to his great-great-great grandfather.  Justin was honored and thrilled to receive such a priceless gift.

Day 156- Wednesday, 6/5/19
Today is Graduation Day!  In the blink of an eye he went from per-school graduation to high school graduation.  The ceremony was held at Raley Field where the River Cats play minor league baseball and it was HOT but great to experience.  Congratulation Justin!
Two down and one to go.

Day 157- Thursday, 6/6/19
To help with the heat the wind picked up and made for a super breezy day.  It's annoying to be out in it but we need it to help drop the temperature.

Day 158- Friday, 6/7/19
We're prepping for a party tomorrow so Justin and I made cupcakes while my dad and Brandon taste tested.  These two could barely wait until they were iced before trying them out.   My parents are also impressed with how much this kid has grown since they last saw him and predict that he still has a few more inches to go.  We'll see!

Day 159- Saturday, 6/8/19
Another full day!  I took Brandon to a basketball tournament first thing in the morning.  He had 3 games but I could only stay for the 1st since we also had a party to throw.  Thankfully his coach was able to bring him home later.  Justin's graduation party started late afternoon and he had a lot of nice school friends drop by along with family friends who have been there through the years to watch him grow into a young adult.  Good food, good company, and good fun!

Day 160- Sunday, 6/9/19
After a morning bath for the dog we could all just chill and end the week quietly.  Cheers to that!

All done!  See you next week after my trip to LA to pick up Tyler.  Yay!  Can't wait.

Week 22

Welcome back and happy Tuesday!  Things have finally started to heat up around here.  We ended last week near 90 and we'll see more of that to come.  So yeah, graduation will be hot!  I hope there is at least a breeze. It's so crazy June is here and I have another kids graduating tomorrow!  Then the following week I get to drive to LA and bring Tyler home for a short visit. Busy times for sure and here's to hoping things slow down after that.

Take a look at last week's pictures:

Day 147- Monday, 5/27/19
Memorial Day was actually pretty nice after some on and off rainy weather the day before so that meant John could grill up some ribs--the perfect summer holiday meal.

Day 148- Tuesday, 5/28/19
It's not raining but there is a cold wind out there so Rusty curled up near me for some warmth during his afternoon nap.  This may be the last of the naps near me until after summer is over so I'll enjoy the ones I can.

Day 149- Wednesday, 5/29/19
Justin's got his yearbook today and spent some time pouring over it and reading what all his friends wrote.  It made him kind of sad knowing this is it and that soon they will all be headed in different directions for a new phase in their lives.

Day 150- Thursday, 5/30/19
I on way to a work meeting in another building I came across a couple playful squirrels.  One took off as soon as he saw me and the other was kind enough to pose before heading up the tree.  We have a lot of squirrels on campus which is always fun to see.

Day 151- Friday, 5/31/19
TGIF!  Brandon is happy to be trying this new flavor of ice-cream for dessert.  The ice-cream is perfect for the warmer weather now in the high 80's but what is up with that sweatshirt?  It's way too hot for that now.  Some day he will learn.

Day 152- Saturday, 6/1/19
It's June people! And that means graduation is upon us.  Justin pulled out his cap to wear it while posing with the monthly marker and the will work on decorating it this weekend.  Later John and I headed to San Francisco for a birthday party with some good friends and stayed the night.  That was fun.

Day 153- Sunday, 6/2/19
Finally we are in the 90's and can open our pool for the season.  We pulled the cover off and got it all cleaned up so now it's ready to go and the yard is also all pruned and ready for summer fun.  Meanwhile down at UCLA Tyler last week did a painting for a sorority event and texted me this picture today.  It's always s good day when I hear from my college boy and of course getting a picture  too is a happy bonus. I miss seeing that face and can't wait to see him in person soon and visit that beautiful campus.

Wait!  One more-

May's Family Photo

Taken out back on a bit of a breezy Memorial Day.

Ok that's it!  Now bring on summer!!
