Week 19

Hello and welcome back!  There was not a whole lot going on this past week aside from prep for the upcoming week, a weather event that was pretty cool, and the celebration of all you moms out there.  I just returned from traveling the past couple days so this post is a little late.

Here's how it all went down as seen in pictures from last week:

Day 127- Monday, 5/6/24

It's the dawn of a new week and the sun keeps coming up sooner and sooner plus it's set to really heat up around here into the 90's by end of the week.  That is actually perfect for warming our pool ahead of the Memorial Day weekend at the end of the month.

Day 128- Tuesday, 5/7/24

Remote work means I get more morning time with the pup who is learning to settle in the kitchen when were grabbing things here and there.  Later in the afternoon Rusty was enjoying the view on the stairs as he watched the pup run around to burn off energy.

Day 129- Wednesday, 5/8/24

Today was super windy which was not great for our picnic style staff appreciation lunch.  Sadly it was pretty miserable for all but we do appreciate the effort.

Day 130- Thursday, 5/9/24

The nasty wind has died down and now the heat is starting to hit so ice-cream sounded like a great idea.  This is his and hers flavors--Moose Tracks for him and Java Chunk for me.  While we enjoyed our cool treat and Bailey napped, Rusty was happy to play laser mouse with me.

Day 131- Friday, 5/10/24

All this heat and less rain means time to turn the sprinklers on for the summer.  Also there was a rare solar storm on the sun causing northern lights to be seen as far south as the bay area here in California and across the country.  We couldn't really see them in Sacramento but out away from city lights in the foothills and what not they could be seen locally.  This picture here was taking up where Justin is in the Humboldt area near Trinidad beach.  So cool!  photo credit--Christoffer Hansen

 Day 132- Saturday, 5/11/24

John put a doggy door in for Baily so she can access her outside dog run from the garage area where her crate is.  Also, inside, this is how she is dealing with the heat--just sleeps through it on the cool floors!  Our movie this evening was something John found on Max with an interesting title I had never heard of but it was actually a really good find.

Day 133- Sunday, 5/12/24

Happy Mother's Day!  Sadly I only have 1 boy home today to celebrate with me but will see Justin tomorrow and Brandon Wednesday.  Tyler stepped up though and made me a nice brunch plus brought good gifts.

That's it.  Hope everyone else had a good week.  See you next time.

Week 18

Hello and welcome back!  Here we are in May already and as expected it's shaping up to be a crazy busy month but with a lot of good things to come--travel, family, friends, BBQ and the opening of the pool.

Here's a look at how it's started in last week's pictures:

Day 120- Monday, 4/29/24

With our outings over the weekend I needed to fill my tank after work today and ouch--the summer gas prices are here and they hurt!  On a better note, Bailey and I have started neighborhood walks which is something I have really missed since Bella passed.  She is doing great with her leash training but is a bit anxious when it comes to new surroundings.  The more we go out though the more she'll get used to it and start to love it as much as I do.

Day 121- Tuesday, 4/30/24

Rusty loves remote work days where we can have morning coffee together.  He's ready to jump up in my lap and have a nice comfortable nap.  He also always has his motor going in the mornings--love to hear him purr.  In the evenings after we put Bailey to bed his favorite thing to do is explore and check out her toys.  After we go to bed I can sometimes hear him playing with a few of them.  Hopefully someday they will play together.  Her energy level right now is just a bit much for him but with time she will mellow out.

Day 122- Wednesday, 5/1/24

Bring on May!  Everything is always in bloom during May and makes our yard feel alive again.  It also sounds more alive with all the birds and insects chirping or buzzing away.  We hear them out on our walks too.  Bailey has got this and just after a few days feels more confident walking the neighborhood and looks forward to our little outings.

Day 123- Thursday, 5/2/24

I totally forgot I received these beachy shoes for Christmas until I came across them in the closet and got to wear them for the first time today.  It's been so nice and sunny out.  Later, Bailey and I enjoyed some time in the yard near the shade on the cool grass. She's giving me kisses.  I usually play frisbee out here with her before walking so she is not too hyper on the walk and that works well for us.

Day 124- Friday, 5/3/24

I finally found the time to get my shingles shot and will need a booster in a few months.  Thankfully, although I've heard horror stories about side effects, all I had was a sore arm and a little fatigue.  Good thing frisbee + walking does this to the pup so I could take it easy this evening too.  TGIF!

Day 125- Saturday, 5/4/24

It POURED rain all day here in the valley and in the Sierras they even had the most snow fall in a single day for the year.  It is May, right?  Luckily by dinner time the rain stopped because we had this event to go to put on by the physical therapy place John goes too. With better weather it was nice to get out and have a fun time with good friends.

Day 126- Sunday, 5/5/24

Happy Cinco de Mayo!  We made tacos and margaritas which were yummy and a great way to end the week.

That's all for now.  Check back next week for more fun.
