Week 21

Welcome back and happy Tuesday!  I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend.  It was weird for us because we traditionally open the pool for the summer on this weekend but because there were thunderstorms and it's cooler than normal no pool yet. Hopefully within the next couple weeks it will be time for a good swim at Justin's graduation party.  Otherwise it was great to have a 3-day weekend and it's an honor to remember those who lost their lives serving our country.

Here are last week's pictures:

Day 140- Monday, 5/20/19
We started the week off with low lying fog which is highly unusual for us in May (normally happens late Oct through Jan or Feb) and I'm pretty sure it's happening this morning because it rained last night and is supposed to be warm today.  I'd really like to have our usual May weather back--Hot, hot, hot!

Day 141- Tuesday, 5/21/19
Another unusual sight--I'm wearing a sweater in May.  So crazy that it's a bit windy and cold out.  Feels more like March.  Regardless, in the lab, we have environmental water samples that I'm pumping through a filter to test for pathogens and this is my set up.

Day 142- Wednesday, 5/22/19
Since Survivor is over we get back-to-back episodes of Amazing Race on tonight.  I love seeing the places around the world they get to experience.  Makes me want to travel more.

Day 143- Thursday, 5/23/19
Finally we are seeing the right type of Dr. about Justin's cranial and facial oddities. He pretty much told us there is nothing to worry about.  It's just boney scar tissue build up that happens for no good reason and as long as it's not causing pain or affecting his life there is no need to mess with it.   I was never too worried about it but his neurologist REALLY wanted some answers which put me a bit on edge.  Now we have the right professional's opinion and can move on.  It's just another quirky thing about Justin that makes him so unique.

Day 144- Friday, 5/24/19
We have a break in the rain which made for a nice afternoon so Bella and I decided to spend it outside in the backyard pruning a few things here and there.  She enjoyed this time and so did I.  It's a great way to unwind from the work week and at least the rain has helped bring us some pretty flowers.

Day 145- Saturday, 5/25/19
Time for a night out.  John and I spent most the day, between rain showers, working in the yard trying to get it ready for summer.  It's a jungle out there.  Then we met up with Sharon and Richie for a little wine tasting and dinner in the Auburn area.  The wine wasn't that great but dinner was wonderful and the after dinner drinks were just as good. Plus the rain had stopped for the day so it was a really pleasant evening to be out and about.

Day 146- Sunday, 5/26/19
We started the day with more rain that sprinkled on and off through the morning but the afternoon was nice again so we'll take it.  You can see all the thunder clouds really well against the blue sunny sky.  John made us fresh fried chicken tenders for dinner and they were a hit once again.  He's perfected achieving that beautiful golden color.  Hopefully tomorrow he can do ribs for Memorial Day dinner--weather permitting of course.

OK!  That's it for now.  It was a crazy one in the weather department but kind of a chill week otherwise.

Week 20

What a day!  I'm running super late because every time I turn around there something more critical to deal with and it's been like that since I stepped out the door this morning until now where I can finally start to wind down.  At any rate, welcome and happy Tuesday!  Thank goodness it's almost over. LOL!  And what happened to our nice weather? We had a lot of rain last week and more in store for this week. I had to pull those sweaters and boots back out.  Hopefully soon it will feel like it's almost summer and not like we're just starting spring again. I'm really looking forward to those lazy summer days--that sounds so nice right about now!

Here are last week's pictures:

Day 133- Monday, 5/13/19
This is pretty much the final lot of the great purge.  It's hard to part with these wooden trains that were so much a part of my boys' lives.  I'm actually sorting through them this afternoon and keeping a small set but donating the rest. It's the end of an era for sure and hopefully some day I can introduce grandkids to Thomas and his friends.

Day 134- Tuesday, 4/14/19
We cleared out my craft table from the home office and bought a sofa bed so we have a place for guests to sleep which is just what we need for the upcoming graduation since my parents will be here for a few days. Brandon has discovered how nice it really is to sit in here and watch TV especially when a game is on and I want to watch something else in the other room.  It will be a week full of Blazers vs Warriors games.

Day 135- Wednesday, 5/15/19
The rain has started so that means a rainy day school pick up and this is the first one in the new car and the first time Brandon has even in the car.  He's pretty impressed.  Justin's a bit worried about having to learn to drive a different car and would rather have the other back.

Day 136- Thursday, 5/16/19
It's time to get those graduation announcements in the mail so I banged out a bunch after work while listening to the pouring rain outside.  Enough!  I'm so over the rain and am ready for pool season.  At this rate it won't even be ready for Memorial Day weekend.

Day 137- Friday, 5/17/19
What a long Friday. Justin organizes gaming tournaments after school here and there so he had one of those he was running today and then had to cut out a little early to head to the police station. There he got his finger prints done for a new job working at the rec center this summer.  Yay!  This appointment was at 7pm and thankfully it was super quick because I was so ready to just be home and relax.

Day 138- Saturday, 5/18/19
At least he brought and umbrella. LOL! We tried to miss going out in the rain but it could not be avoided and he wanted to tag along and help with the Target run so he could give driving the new car a try.  He was a bit frustrated that things are in slightly different places and the newer bells and whistles the other car didn't have are a bit unnerving but he actually did great.  Now Brandon wants to try.  Haha!--8 more months kiddo.

Day 139- Sunday, 5/19/19
Our college friend Deb and her husband Doug were up in the area celebrating their anniversary so we met them at the Old Sugar Mill near our house for a little wine tasting.  It still rained a lot today but thankfully while we were out it was actually nice and sunny.  Well take it!

Ok that's it!  Keep your fingers crossed for a the end of rain at least during the next few months.

Week 19

Welcome back and happy Tuesday!  I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. How are we in the middle of May already?  So crazy.  Justin's graduation happens in 3 weeks and Tyler gets to come home for a short break in 4 weeks.  Time to kick it in high gear and finish unpacking all the boxes in our house most of which belong in the office/guest room.  They seem to never end!  I also started the garden wars a couple weeks ago but have had no time lately to get back out there so that needs to resume and get finished as well.  Hopefully the weather cooperates although I see rain is in the forecast.

For now it's all about the sunshine and here are last week's pictures to prove it:

Day 126- Monday, 5/6/19
I get to work just as the sun is coming up and today there were some pretty flowers basking in the morning sunlight right outside the lab.  What a great greeting to help me start the day or better yet the week!

Day 127- Tuesday, 5/7/19
Brandon has it pretty easy this semester with 4 classes that all give hardly any homework which means a lot of down time.  Enjoy it now while you can young one. Oh and I just realized looking at this picture that we have one box left in the loft left to unpack.  Sounds like a good job for him to take care of.

Day 128- Wednesday, 5/8/19
Only in Davis will you pass cows coming and going to a staff event.  It's the Thank Goodness For Staff  (TGFS) picnic today and the shuttle that was supposed to pick us up and take us across campus for the event never showed so we ended up walking on this beautiful sunny but hot day.

Day 129- Thursday, 5/9/19
Poor girl.  Everyone was upstairs and she knows she is not allowed up there but she also hates being left alone so she waited patiently at the bottom and was super happy to see me come back down.  It's also close to dinner time and she wants to make sure we realize that.   Priorities!

Day 130- Friday, 5/10/19
Over the past couple months we've been making several trips to Goodwill purging things we just don't use or need anymore and these couple of loads that I dropped off at 2 different stores after work today are  hopefully some of the last.  Now that that is done it's time to enjoy my Friday evening and kick it off with a refreshing handcrafted drink.  Thanks babe!

Day 131- Saturday, 5/11/19
Out with the old and in with the new.  What a long but productive day.  After getting chores done this morning John and I spent 6+ hours in Elk Grove selling my 2007 Murano with 150,000+ miles and buying a 2018 Rogue with only 5,300 miles.  Yay!  It's was time.

Day 132- Sunday, 5/12/19
Happy Mother's Day!  We had a nice relaxing day at home with a great breakfast and a nice dinner all made by the wonderful guys in my life who know how to spoil me.

That's it! See you next week.

Week 18

Hello and happy Tuesday! Last week was a full one. We're in final preparations for getting our house, yard, and life in order before Justin's graduation which is only one month away.  So much to do and so little time but we'll get there.

Here are last week's pictures:

Day 119- Monday, 4/29/19
I finally got around to finding a piece of art for this blank wall in our kitchen/dining area.  It's been 5 months and just not a priority until now.  The colors and scale of this piece are perfect plus I like the texture of the paint and the peacefulness of the subject matter. Check✓-- one more thing done.  Now if I can just get through all the boxes in the office/guest room and find a place for everything there we'd be pretty much set.

Day 120- Tuesday, 4/30/19
Today at work I'm catching up on making antigen pellets for a collaborator that's been patiently waiting.  He needs a lot for a new project and these things take time.  Biological system don't always work on a set timeline.

Day 121- Wednesday, 5/1/19
We're starting the new month with a bang!  It's National Decision Day and Justin has decided on Humboldt State University to study wildlife biology so he represented by wearing his college shirt to school today.  After work I posed with the monthly marker and some pretty May flowers in the backyard  before taking Justin to a group interview for a summer job.  Then we all ate a really quick dinner before heading out to the high school's scholarship night where Justin surprised and amazed everyone by bringing home 4 awards from our generous community.  Wow!  What a day that ended on a wonderful high note.

Day 122- Thursday, 5/2/19
Welcome home John!  He's been traveling since Monday for work and just got home tonight.  He was sad to miss yesterday but we're happy to have him back today and Bella has not left his side all night.  She wants to make sure he's not leaving again anytime soon.

Day 123- Friday, 5/3/19
TGIF and cheers to the weekend!  We're ready to relax this evening and then tackle more house stuff tomorrow.

Day 124- Saturday, 5/4/19
This morning we did get a lot of things taken care of at home and now we're watching Brandon's last city league basketball game.  This should be it until summer leagues start once school is out.

Day 125- Sunday, 5/5/19
It's time for a break from the house so we headed out to see the Avengers End Game movie which was really long but also really good.  After that we worked together to make some fresh-Mex food for a nice Cinco de Mayo dinner. Yum!

That's it!  See you next week.
