Week 38

Welcome back and happy Tuesday!  Last week was another busy and exhausting work week but thankfully things on that front will be slowing down soon.  On the home front we had a great week and were able to squeeze in some good family time with the new in-laws.

Enjoy last week's pictures:

Day 260- Monday, 9/18/23

Ugh! There is an accident they are trying clear so traffic is at a dead stop this morning.  I hope this is not indicative of what the rest of the day will be like.  It ended up taking me over an hour to get to work when it normally takes 20 min.

Day 261- Tuesday, 9/19/23

John had a heart fit test at Mercy in Sacramento.  Thankfully we could do it here this year instead of having to go to San Francisco.  He did much better on it this year too plus we got to see his cardio rehab therapists that he hasn't seen in over 9 months, and they were all so surprised and happy to se how far he's come and how good he looks.

Day 262- Wednesday, 9/20/23

We're feeling the fall vibes today with some nice cool weather and a warm comforting meal for dinner.

Day 263- Thursday, 9/21/23

First he must play and then he must nap.

Day 264- Friday, 9/22/23

Yesterday at work our marketing manager took some photos in the lab for an upcoming event and today while scrolling through social media I see this ad posted by her that at first I just scrolled right by until I was like, wait a minute, and went back to do a double take--hey, that's me!  It kind of caught me off guard because I had no idea she would use the photos for anything but the event in October.  Anyone need a job?  LOL!  Back at home I bought some nice fall flowers to dress up our entry and started the prepping process for a party tomorrow.  TGIF!

Day 265- Saturday, 9/23/23

Happy 25th Birthday Tyler!  We had a very full house with a few of ours friends and then all of Lupe's family here to celebrate with us.  That 3rd picture is all of the in-laws: Lupe's 3 sisters with their 3 partners, plus her mom, stepdad, niece, and nephew.  She is standing next to her mom on the right and just behind her niece who's name is also Andrea but pronounced a little differently (mine ends sounding like ria and hers like raya).  It was a great party. We all had a good time and ate lots of yummy food but were also missing our 2 younger boys.

Day 266- Sunday, 9/24/23

It was cold this morning which was perfect for making some orange-glazed cinnamon rolls and then in the afternoon it felt like we were still trying holding on to the bit of summer with blue skies and bright sun warming things up.  The pool looks inviting but it's temperature is really too cold for swimming.  At least it's very pleasant and peaceful to sit by.

That wraps up another week and it's nice when you can end on a good note.  See you again but next time in October.

Week 37

Welcome back and happy Tuesday!  We're feeling all the Fall vibes around here as you will see in the following pictures.  This Indian Summer we're having is so pleasant and it looks like it will continue trough the end of September.  Yay!--makes me feel like baking.

At any rate, here are last week's pictures:

Day 254- Monday, 9/11/23

It was windy over night which made the trees litter the ground with fall leaves. They caught the sunlight and my eye just right as I walked into work.  Now I just need a PSL to help continue the current mood.

Day 255- Tuesday, 9/12/23

I'm in the thick of hamster work and they are so cute but also means that I can't have remote Tuesdays for awhile.  That is one of my rodents at work and at home it looks like a different rodent or bird took a liking to one of our poolside cushions.  Whatever it was did some serious damage either trying to nest or stealing the stuffing for nesting elsewhere.

Day 256- Wednesday, 9/13/23

This one threw up a hairball in his office nest so has moved his naps back to the stairs.  In better news we enjoyed a nice pasta dinner tonight while catching up on some shows.

Day 257- Thursday, 9/14/23

This week was a really tiring and long work week for me.  Today I stayed well after my normal hours killing time in the lab until the Global Programs Film Festival started which was run by my boss there on the left in the green sweater.  These are all veterinary students that had summer internships abroad and created short films about their experiences.  I'm glad I went though because they very motivating, fun to watch, and inspired me to rekindle my love of travel.

Day 258- Friday, 9/15/23

It's time to hang the fall door wreath and it's cool enough out to cuddle with the kitty even though he's still shedding like crazy.  TGIF!  No real plans this weekend which sound good as I need to just chill at home after this long work week.  I'm beat!

Day 259- Saturday, 9/16/23

My favorite heart shaped leaves are starting to turn colors with their characteristic yellowish-browning pattern.  It's also Mexican Independence day so we had tacos and margaritas in honor of that.  Afterwards it was movie time. Wow! This is such a great true story of an exceptionally determined person that grew up not far from us.

Day 260- Sunday, 9/17/23

I'm loving all the fall treats out right now.  These donuts are so good just like the pumpkin ones of the same brand--made my morning.  Later John was a happy boy when he got his neglected bike up and running again by putting in a new battery and changing out the old gas for new. He's still not ready to ride just yet but it's a goal of his that he wants to make happen before winter sets in.  We'll see.

That's all folks.  Thank for stopping by.

Week 36

Welcome back and happy Tuesday! Thankfully things weren't as slow and boring as the previous week.  We got to enjoy a holiday, feel refreshed by some nice fall-like weather, and had a lot of fun hanging out with good friends.

Here's what it all looked like:

Day 247- Monday, 9/4/23

Happy Labor Day!  We enjoyed a nice quiet day grilling some good food and drinking some good drinks at home.  It was actually a bit cool out so not our typical Labor Day heat which was refreshing and nice for a change but not exactly good pool weather. Later we finished watching this action-packed series with a great cast.

Day 248- Tuesday, 9/5/23

With the long holiday weekend gone it's always nice to have the yummy leftovers to use  when you return to the rat race and can't find the energy to cook after a tiring day at work.  Also related to dinner here is another small milestone for John--this past weekend he started sitting at the table in an actual chair instead of in the wheelchair only needing an extra cushion for some padding.  The cat and I sure don't miss that wheelchair.

Day 249- Wednesday, 9/6/23

Wednesday at work was brutal and then when I got home it still continued for a bit so this afternoon's fall pick-me-up treat was just what I needed to keep me going plus it was free with reward points--can't beat that!

Day 250- Thursday, 9/7/25

My old and huge jewelry box no longer works on the new dressers so I ordered a newer more modern and compact one that fits much better. I was happy to find it had been delivered today. Hopefully soon I'll find the time to transfer my loot in there.  Then later, down in Fullerton at night, Brandon texted me a picture of his first attempt at making orange chicken with rice and it sounded like he was quite pleased with the results.  Yay for him!

Day 251- Friday, 9/8/23

It's been so nice out and is even starting to feel a bit like fall.  The plants are happy too and have started blooming again after going dormant during the excessive heat in August.  It was pleasant spending some time out here in the yard after work and a good way to unwind from the week.  TGIF!

Day 252- Saturday, 9/9/23

Today we had some friends go wine tasting with us at our local wine collective in the Old Sugar Mill. After, back at our place, we all had dinner an enjoyed some more fun.  John grew up with these people in the bay area and they've stayed close friends for all these years.  They've been wonderful offering so much support and continued help with John's healing over the past 18 months.  His spirit lifts when they are around.

Day 253- Sunday, 9/10/23

Enough with the play, today is all about catching up on chores starting with the laundry but also enjoying another beautiful fall-like day.

That's it!  Hope to catch you again next week.

Week 35

Hello, happy Tuesday, and welcome to September!  I'm so looking forward to fall.  Otherwise, after the past few full weeks, this last one was pretty quiet and uneventful.  We just played catch up on things at home and work plus could feel the emptiness in our house of having all kids away again.  I'm for sure counting my blessings that we at least still have each other and the cat.

Here's a look at last week:

Day 240- Monday, 8/28/23

What a bummer way to start the week--dishwasher "user interface" is dead which means the controls don't work so a part was ordered and it will get replaced sometime next week.  It just so happens the thing is full of dirty dishes that now need to be taken out and washed by hand.  Too bad my best people dishwashers are away at school.

Day 241- Tuesday, 8/29/23

On a happier note we got rid of the wheelchair transition into the house over the weekend so today I picked up a new welcome mat which is so much more inviting.  Yay for baby steps and continued progress.

Day 242- Wednesday, 8/30/23

Rusty is chilling with his favorite toys just before we all head to bed.  Before I wrapped up the night and went to bed I made sure to head outside and snap a picture of the rare super blue moon.  Blue meaning it's the second full moon in the same month and doesn't really have much to to do with it's color.

Day 243- Thursday, 8/31/23

Today instead of a rare cool moon were seeing smoky orange skies and from fires set by high winds.  Hopefully we'll not have another one of those type of fall seasons.

Day 244- Friday, 9/1/23

Welcome to September and bring on fall.  I even found a couple fall like leaves out front to add to my monthly marker picture.  Also TGIF!  It was a long busy work week and I'm beat but looking forward to the 3-day weekend.

Day 245- Saturday, 9/2/23

It's raining a bit here and there today.  This will not be our typical Labor Day super hot weekend.  As long as it doesn't get too cold or windy I'm fine with a a more comfortable holiday.  For the most part we have no plans except catching up on house projects.  This office closet will be the next closet I tackle.

Day 246- Sunday, 9/3/23

After another rainy morning and a trip to Costco John and I worked on repositioning the wall art in our newly done bedroom.  Finally it's all done aside from some touch up paint needed here and there and we couldn't be happier.  The only rooms left to update are the living room and loft--maybe next year.

That's all for this week.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone had a good Labor Day.
