Week 34

Welcome back and happy Tuesday! Whew, so much happened in the past 2 weeks it's all such a blur with 2 back to back road trips for me. At least the one this past week was more fun and not as much time spent in the car although still more than I would have liked.  Now with all that over it's time to focus on big projects at work plus getting the house and yard back to in order.

Here are last week's pictures:

Day 233- Monday 8/21/23

I'm at work just for today before I hit the road again. The weather is weird. We got a good soaking of rain this morning from what's left of the tropical storm here in Calif. plus it's very balmy out which is so not typical for us at all when we have rain.  I do like how it freshened things up a bit though and al our heat stressed plants are happy with the extra rain.

Day 234- Tuesday, 8/22/23

This road trip is for us as we celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary. We were happy to escape to the Sanctuary Beach Resort near Monterey and soak up a good bit of nature.  Cheers to us for always loving each other to the moon and back.

Day 235- Wednesday, 8/23/23

First thing this morning I enjoyed exploring the beach on this beautiful sunny day.  We couldn't ask for better weather.  Later we took in a safari tour on the Elkhorn Slough where there is an abundance of sea lions, sea otters, harbor seals, and birds to see.  It's something I've been wanting to do for awhile since it so closely relates to my work and we got lucky seeing so many animals in their beautiful habitat pretty much immediately as we sat in the boat.  After that we hit up Phil's Fish Market just down the way which is legendary around these parts.

Day 236- Thursday 8/24/23

Sadly it's time to say goodbye to the sand and sea as the gloomy fog and grey skies role in--this is more typical weather around here so I'm glad we had mostly sunshine the past 2 days instead.  Heading home Google took us on different route through the delta due to an accident blocking the usual way.  At least it was more scenic and fun to cross a good number of bridges.  Look at John's left arm in the driving picture.  He got creative and ordered a temporary tattoo for our anniversary with the infinity sign, our names, and wedding date.  What a cool thing to do.

Day 237- Friday, 8/25/23

We're back but Tyler and Lupe are now on their own road trip to LA for their honeymoon which they haven't had a chance to take until now.  I'm feeding Fred for them since they fed Rusty for us. Tyler is showing Lupe around UCLA and finally got a picture of him in the inverted fountain.  As freshman they they start out touching the water in the fountain for good luck and then they are not supposed to let the water touch them again for fear of not graduating in 4 years so usually just after graduation they all jump in the fountain to celebrate making it in 4 years but because of COVID he was not able to do that until now.

Day 238- Saturday, 8/26/23

This weekend we finally got around to putting our clothes away in new dressers.  I've been on the road or working pretty much the whole time since they were delivered so it's great to now put them to use.  Next weekend we'll work on repositioning all the wall art to fit just right.

Day 239- Sunday, 8/27/23

I started the week with me and a cup of coffee and seems fitting to end the week with me and a glass a of wine.  Cheers to a chill Sunday with my furry friend by my side.

That's it.  See you next week as we start September and can look forward to the beginnings of fall.

Week 33

Welcome back and happy Tuesday!  Last week was eventful as you will see.  There is a lot going on here but hopefully after this current week things will slow down a bit at least at home--work won't slow down until end of Sept.

Here's a look at last week's picture:

 Day 226- Monday, 8/14/23

Brandon made us brownies to make sundaes with and we got his a hair cut for the start of school.

Day 227- Tuesday, 8/15/23

Current pictures from Justin.  He has a roommate that is an artist and she does such a great job sketching him.  Love how she got our cat in this most recent one. This picture of Rusty was taken by Justin just before he left and he finally shared it with me.  I think Rusty was looking a some birds flying around outside our entry way window.  Love how the light is shining down on him.

Day 228- Wednesday, 8/16/23

The dressers and mirror finally made it! Now we just need to reposition most of the pictures on our walls because the newer furniture sizing is different so the spacing is all off.  Also that first dresser came with a small chip on the bottom front trim noticeable in the picture, but they sent a repair guy that has now fixed it with a resin and staining to match that worked perfectly.

Day 229- Thursday, 8/17/23

I'm going to miss that sweet boy once he leaves tomorrow.  He was a great help to us this summer and for sure kept our lives more interesting.  Later after dinner John made the two of us belinni drinks with the fresh peaches from our neighbors--so yummy and a great way to use the fruit.

Day 230- Friday, 8/18/23

Time to get this kid settled in back at school.  That trip really ended up taking 7.5 hrs due to LA traffic.  Ugh! He's happy with his own room in an apartment right off campus but not so happy with the condition the kitchen was left in.  We're working on resolutions for that and got creative about how he could deal in the meantime. Thankfully the shared bathroom was in good shape.

Day 231- Saturday, 8/19/23

We had a nice brunch at this place with Brandon's girlfriend's family who have truly taken him under their wing and I'm so grateful for that.  Unfortunately I forgot to get pictures of all of us before I hit the road to drive back home.  It took me 2 hrs just to get out of LA--so many accidents down there clogging up all the freeways, but once I got out and actually made some good progress I stopped to grabbed a refreshing treat to help me push through the rest of the way home..  I'm beat though after those 2 really long days.

 Day 232- Sunday, 8/20/23

Back at home I checked in on my yard and noticed our friendly garden spider was feasting on a bee.  I was also keeping my eye on the news.  As if a hurricane/tropical storm (1st one hitting Calif in over 80 years) wasn't enough an earthquake was also thrown in the mix all happening right where left my boy. Yikes! Classes for their 1st day cancelled.

What a week!  Now off to a small but much needed vacation.

Week 32

Welcome back and happy Tuesday!  We enjoyed our time with Justin the past week as much as we could squeezing some fun in between appointments and work.  He's already returned to school and this week I'll be driving Brandon back to his.  We're hoping the current heat wave settles down just in time for that journey.

Until then take a look at last week's pictures:

Day 219- Monday, 8/7/23

Here are some signs that Justin is home complete with needing a trip to the store to replenish supplies--most notably milk and cereal.  At least he loves to shop with me and help out.

Day 220- Tuesday, 8/8/23

Cheers to Taco Tuesday!  It was Justin's first time frying up the corn tortillas and he did great.  It's also one of his favorites meals and we're trying to squeeze in a bunch of those before he leaves.

Day 221- Wednesday, 8/9/23

Wednesday at work there is another beautiful sky greeting me as I head into the building to start my day.  Back at home Justin and I are off to one of his many appointments this week. Today it's for a much needed haircut.  He has yet to get one away from home. Brandon will be next!

Day 223- Thursday, 8/10/23

Finally no appointments today so there was plenty of time to hang with his brothers enjoying games and cool summer treats.

Day 224- Friday, 8/11/23

TGIF!  It's Justin's last day home before heading back to the lost coast up north.  John made him a special tropical drink and then we streamed this new Netflix movie after dinner.

Day 225- Saturday, 8/12/23

He's back in his college town and pretty much immediately found a herd of  Elk to take a picture of--only in Humboldt!  Meanwhile here at home our neighbors gave us a whole bag of peaches from one of their fruit trees.  I'm planning to make some cobbler and John is planning to make peach shakes--yum!

Day 226- Sunday, 8/13/23

Pancakes, popcorn, and one last movie with Brandon before he leaves us too. I feel like I blinked and summer was over.  Sadly Thanksgiving seems so far away, but hopefully it will be here and the boys will be back to visit before we know it.

That wraps up another week.  Thanks for stopping by.
