Week 10

Welcome back and happy Tuesday!  We're enjoying having Justin home for spring break this week.  It's been a bit boring without him around so it's great to have him here to mix things up for a change. He also brought the rain with him.  Today we're actually got measurable rain. It's been way too long so we'll take it and hope there is more to come.

Until then here are last week's pictures:

Day 66, Monday, 3/7/22

These white flowers in the neighborhood just started to bloom and remind me of popcorn everytime I see them.  Later, while shopping for dinner, I picked up a couple bottles of wine since our supplies are low, and I know you are not supposed to select wines for the labels, but I can't help it.  Looks like I was in a blue mood because both these wine labels caught my eye.

Day 67- Tuesday, 3/8/22

Working from home today getting freezer inventories updated and sorted out in an electronic system I've never used before which has a steep learning curve.  I did make progress though and feel more comfortable using it after today.  Once I was done I took the dog for a nice long walk on a different route that put some pep in her step.  She likes it when we change her walks up--new sights and smells get her excited.

Day 68- Wednesday, 3/9/22

Time to enjoy one of those blue-label wines while watching the new season of Survivor.

Day 69- Thursday, 3/10/22

The cop is here because these gas prices are highway robbery--lol!  It's times like these when I hate having a commute even with a gas-efficient car.  Seems like every day now the price jumps higher than you can imagine and of course California has the highest prices of all.  It's been a long day, but now I'm home and can cuddle with Rusty while watching some mindless TV to decompress.

Day 70- Friday, 3/11/22

This is the first tennis match of Brandon's I've been able to watch so far but there are many more to come.  Thankfully after a really windy and nasty day yesterday today was beautiful and so pleasant out.  The second image is a collection of pictures Justin shared during the week to highlight his HSU life while being the student selected to take over the housing IG account.  He's such a ham and did a great job giving current, new, and prospective students a peek into student life there.  After tennis and some dinner we settled down to watch House of Gucci for our Friday night movie.  It's an interesting story I didn't really know too much about and has a really good cast.

Day 71- Saturday, 3/12/22

I ran some errands and did some chores today including getting my car washed and then headed to Davis to pick Justin up from the train.  He's baaack!  We get him for a whole week while he's on spring break and as per tradition grabbed In-N-Out on our way home.

Day 72- Sunday, 3/13/22

This is poor John's life right now as he works with his doctor to get his health back on track.  Hopefully having Justin home will help lift his spirits.  In between loads of laundry and cleaning the house today I managed to make some to-do list pages in my bullet journal.  Later, we had Sunday dinner with all 3 boys which was nice since it's been a couple months. They can barely all squeeze across one step now. LOL!

That's it!  Hope to see you back next week.

Week 9

Welcome back and happy Tuesday! I'm still trying to wrap my head around it being March already.  It seems as though the start of this year has slipped right through my fingers.  I'm already stressing about things that will happen in June thinking that's not too far away.  What I really need to do is focus on the now and enjoy the days as they unfold.  Justin comes home soon for spring break so that will be a nice treat.  Sadly his break does not coincide with Brandon's so we can't really go anywhere or do anything super fun, but we'll find something local to look into while he's here.

Until then, here are last week's very spring-like pictures:

Day 59- Monday, 2/28/22

Bella and I enjoyed a nice long golden-hour walk this evening.  I like how it's staying light longer.  There are so many birds and bugs out these days and then there are the fields of mustard in bloom that never disappoint heading into March.

Day 60- Tuesday, 3/1/22

Speaking of March, here it is!  I was the only one around to take a monthly marker picture and chose to do it outside in the nice spring weather.

Day 61- Wednesday, 3/2/22

Wednesday at work, while I was waiting for a friend to join me for coffee, I spied a beautiful patch of California poppies.  The are in bloom all over campus right now and help give off a cheery, feel-good vibe.  Once we get our backyard sprinkler system fixed I hope to plant some out there for us to enjoy at home.

Day 62- Thursday, 3/3/22

So much for the sunshine.  Today was dark, cloudy and cold.  There is a storm brewing right over our house.  It made for the perfect night to enjoy some warm comfort food- Pad Thai with chicken.  We did get a little rain overnight but still not much.

Day 63- Friday, 3/4/22

The sun is back out but it's deceiving because still really cold hence the cat on my lap.  At least the newly bloomed flowers outside seem to be handling the near freezing temps well.  I love how we can see these great pops of color right out a picture window in our kitchen/living area.  There's not much going on for a Friday night around here since Brandon is at work and John is still sick.  We do at least have more information to help target his treatment though.  Here's to hoping that will get him on a good healing track soon.

Day 64- Saturday, 3/5/22

Usually I do laundry on Sundays but got started early this weekend, and my helper hung around to keep me company as I sorted and folded clean clothes.  She positioned herself so she could be near me but still see if anything better in going on in the other rooms.  Later Brandon checked on the status of his college applications and heard good news back from 3.  The others will be releasing decisions mid March.  It's getting real around here.

Day 65- Sunday, 3/6/22

I got my fitness bullet-journal pages done this weekend and was able to use my new, inkless, tiny photo printer to get some inspirational photo stickers added.  Love that they have pre-cut circle sheets available to print on as well.  In other news, Justin got to see the new Batman today with some of his college friends and announced that we he will be the next student taking over the HSU housing instagram for the upcoming week.  He loves this sort of thing so can't wait to see what he shares.

All done!  Hope to see you back next week.

Week 8

Hello and welcome back! We actually had a cold snap last week and chances for rain although where we live not enough rain to even be measurable.  Temps overnight for a few days did drop below freezing making it feel a bit more like February at least for a few days.  Now we're back to spring like conditions again and enjoying the sunshine as we head into March.

Here are last week's pictures:

Day 52- Monday, 2/21/22

Today most of us were home for President's Day and the long weekend was much appreciated.  While enjoying downtime I'll take as many cat snuggles as I can get before it starts to really heat up and he no longer needs or wants our warmth.   Then out back aside from all the pretty flowers in bloom we also have our trees budding bright, new, green leaves.

Day 53- Tuesday, 2/22/22

Big white fluffy clouds moved in today along with darker thunder clouds later one.  Some places got rain and even snow.  We just got spat on for a few minutes--LOL!  At least the sky was pretty and a good backdrop for my white flower picture as Bella and I walked through the park.

Day 54- Wednesday, 2/23/22

Wednesday at work- nature's confetti on campus has littered the grounds.  It's bright and sunny out but really cold hence the warm winter boots.  In other news John has been fighting a touch of pneumonia that has him coughing, wheezing, and sleeping a lot.  Poor guy needs some antibiotics that will actually work for him.

Day 55- Thursday, 2/24/22

Mandarin oranges are my go-to after work snack.  They are quick, easy, delicious, and have that daily dose of natural vitamin C which is never a bad thing.  Outside this tree of ours is budding deep pink spring flowers that adds some beautiful interest to the maze of bare branches.

Day 56- Friday, 2/25/22

With my Friday night party guy out of commission and Brandon working it's just me and the dog tonight.  On Fridays she gets her treat-release toy filled and has brought it over to remind me of that.  LOL!

Day 57- Saturday, 2/26/22

Between doing weekend chores and running errands I also carved out some time to work up another bullet journal spread which gave me a chance to play around with some sticker list sets.  On a heavier note my heart goes out to Ukraine, but wow are they tough and putting up a good fight.  It's great to see what an example of a strong leader can do to motivate and unite a country for the greater good.  I hope they send Putin packing with his tail between his legs.

Day 58- Sunday, 2/27/22

Today I was thankful to get outside in the sunshine to take control of those nasty weeds. The flowers look so much better not overrun by weeds!  The front yard is done.  In the backyard I did some pruning but the weeds there will have to wait.  The back is so much bigger and will require a few weeks and extra help to be tamed.

Ok all done!  See you next week.
