Week 26

Welcome back and happy Tuesday.  I hope everyone had a good 4th of July weekend.  Ours was nice and simple but still fun.  We pretty much just chilled at home, ate some good food, and then enjoyed some fireworks once it got dark.  Thank goodness for having the next day off because some people had those illegal overhead fireworks blasting in the neighborhood way past midnight so we got very little sleep.

Here's a look at how last week went down:

Day 179- Monday, 6/28/21

Today I was home for a new holiday in observance of Juneteenth which was supposed to be Friday but the university didn't have time to put in place until Monday. Next year it will be on the right day. This morning I got some things done around the house and in the yard where I found these Lily of the Nile flowers starting to bloom. They always open right before July which is fitting because these flowers remind me of fireworks. Speaking of fireworks, this afternoon I worked a shift in the Boosters' firework's fundraising booth.  It's a great way to make money for our kids and also fun to learn about all the safe and sane options for celebrating the upcoming holiday.

Day 180- Tuesday, 6/29/21

This cute little guy is a new addition to the grounds surrounding the veterinary school where I work. I actually pass through this court many times a day going between buildings so it's nice to see something new here for a change.

Day 181- Wednesday, 6/30/21

Today after Justin got home from work all 3 boys and John went out pick out our fireworks from the Boosters' booth.  This is a fun tradition for them to do together. It was a bit tricky finding a time that fit everyone's work schedules this year, but they were motivated enough to make it happen.  Then there is the poor cat who is just not a fan of the heat right now.  LOL!  It's rare to see him sprawled out like this instead of curled up in a ball.  I think he's over it.

Day 182- Thursday, 7/1/21

Welcome to July!  It's so crazy the new year is half over now.  My sweet July baby was kind enough to pose with the monthly marker after finishing summer class for the day.  He's wrapping up the second week of class and only has one more week to go.

Day 183- Friday, 7/2/21

The boys and I went to Petco and pick up a "ThunderShirt" for Bella which is supposed to help with firework anxiety.  We have to condition her to wear it over the next couple days and then will give it a try to see if it really does help.  In other news, the crew that will be replacing our fence next week came out and flagged different areas to prep for that.  We share the fence with 5 other neighbors so it will be a big job that takes a lot of coordination.  The Friday night movie for the week was a new one on Netflix and your typical high-action Liam Neeson flick.  Best thing is that it allowed us to think cooler thoughts ;0)

Day 184- Saturday, 7/3/21

Cheers to a long holiday weekend.  We have no real plans expect to relax and make some good meals.  It was pizza-oven night today, smoked salmon appetizers before a big rib dinner tomorrow, a pancake brunch on Monday and then a big tri-tip dinner to end it all.  John got so relaxed he after dinner he fell asleep so I watched this Netflix film on my own and loved it.  It was very moving and brought me to tears but in a good way many times.  Check it out!

Day 185- Sunday, 7/4/21

Happy 4th of July!  We celebrated with good food, cake, a game or two of darts, and fireworks of course.

Wait!  One more:

June's Family Photo

Taken quickly one day this week when I just so happened to have them all in the same place which is hard to do these days.

That's it!  See you next week.
