Week 31

Welcome back and happy Tuesday!  Last week was a week for getting things done, and this week will be much of the same.  It's the last big push before school starts plus we're dealing with poor air quality from fires and increased Delta-variant cases making everyone nervous.  I can't wait for your escape in a couple weeks to help us decompress and reset a bit.  It's time to get back to nature.

Until then, here are last week's pictures:

Day 214- Monday, 8/2/21

At least some of the trees are still green around here.  I love these huge pretty summer leaves.

Day 215- Tuesday, 8/3/21

It's past time for Justin to get new glasses.  I tried to get an appointment as soon as he came home for summer and this was the best they could do--a mere week before he leaves to go back!  I'll have to ship him his actual pair that won't be ready for 2 weeks but at least their ordered.  And look at this cool cat just chillin like it ain't no thing.  LOL!  He cracks me up.

Day 216- Wednesday, 8/4/21

It's nation white wine day and this is the perfect day for it.  I had so many back to back meetings today and the last one ended just after 7:30 pm so as soon as all that was over I was ready for a nice glass of wine to help me unwind.

Day 217- Thursday, 8/5/21

We ordered RoundTable pizza tonight to help support Brandon at his new job which is going really well so far.  He even gets to go the River Cats baseball games and make pizza in their booth there.  Here at home while he works away and now that the Olympics are winding down we've started watching Manifest on Netflix.

Day 218- Friday, 8/6/21

Today was Brandon's high school orientation where he picked up his ID card and schedule.  School will at least start in-person this year and then we'll see how things go.  Wednesday is his first day back.  He got this Lego set for his birthday recently and his goal was to get it done before school started--mission accomplished!

Day 219- Saturday, 8/7/21

Ugh! Waking up to skies like this leaves me with a sick feeling because it means fire is destroying something out there.  This week it was the small town of Greenville up north.  Sadly it's is becoming an annual thing and our hearts go out to all those that not only lost homes but also businesses, schools, churches and entire neighborhoods.  It's depressing but the communities are strong and will rebuild.  Thankfully we are safe and were able to head south a bit to escape at least some of the smoke while spending time with good friends at a picnic.  We brought some cupcakes and pulled pork to add to all the great food that was shared.  The good company was a great and much needed distraction from all the uncertainty we're feeling right now.

Day 220- Sunday, 8/8/21

Aside from laundry and cleaning today, Justin and I were sorting through his college things and making sure he has everything he needs to move back next week.  Seems like summer went by too fast but I know he's ready to go back and looking forward to seeing all his college friends again.

That's it for now!  I'll most likely post late next week as I'll be traveling Sunday and Monday to get Justin settled.

  2. So sad about the fires! and the rise in COVID cases! We even had smoke all the way out here from the CA fires! Crazy! That pizza from Brandon's job looks yummy! I would support that a lot! Safe travels getting Justin back to school and hope the start of school goes well for Brandon! We start tomorrow. Have a great week!
