Week 28

Welcome back to another late post!  Week 28 was crazy busy with a quick trip to LA. It was hard for me to leave John behind and not worry but Justin plus some wonderful friends and neighbors did a great job checking in and helping him so everything went well.

Here are last week's pictures:

Day 192- Monday, 7/11/22

Recently John had a visitor from work and not only did she bring a great care package for him but also brought this beautiful orchid for me from his work crew.  It was a good visit where he got to catch up on all the work goings on that he's missed for the past 4 months.  So crazy it's been that long already.

Day 193- Tuesday, 7/12/22

At work yesterday I got another gift--this time from one of our international fellows that will be returning home to Costa Rica soon.  It was fun to have him working in our lab for a few months.  I', working remote today and the temporary foot brace for John just came in from Amazon.  He was able to use it in PT today for some time spent with the walker.  The more we can get him upright, standing, and moving the quicker he'll improve.

Day 194- Wednesday, 7/13/22

Wednesday at work back in the lab we're helping out a grad student, who now has Covid, process her recently collected field samples.  She's pretty sick in isolation so we'll get them done for her.  At least I have some eager helpers.  These are our international fellows--one from Costa Rica and the other from Malawi Africa.  A great perk of my job is being able to work with students from all over the world.  Sadly this is Ernesto's last day with us but Frank will be here through the rest of the summer.

Day 195- Thursday, 7/14/22

Today I'm escaping for a short trip with Brandon to LA so we can attend his college orientation bright and early tomorrow.  After we arrived and got checked into the hotel he was able to meet up with his girlfriend for a visit at a local mall.  They're so cute together.

Day 196- Friday, 7/15/22

We were at the Cal State Fullerton campus from 8am to 5pm for one full day of college orientation.  We we started with a detailed tour together and then they split the students up from the parents so I didn't really see Brandon much today but it was all good and pretty much information overload--lol!  Later we had dinner and went out to a movie with his girlfriend's family which was nice.  I'd already met her parents but this time also met 2 of her siblings (she's the youngest of 4 so there is just 1 brother we haven't met yet).  They are all very nice and fun to hang around with.

Day 197- Saturday, 7/16/22

Time to make the journey back home and unfortunately our flight kept getting delayed so it took longer than expected with more waiting in the airport than I would have liked.

Day 198- Sunday, 7/17/22

Home sweet home and yay for a quiet slow morning.  While I was gone Justin helped John set up his DJ stuff on the table so he could play around for a bit.  It's usually out in the garage on a high bench he can't reach yet so it was nice to see how he was productive and had fun while I was gone.  Unfortunately we had to put it all away to make room for Sunday dinner but we'll find another place for it soon.

That's it!  Thanks for checking in and see you next week.
