Week 34

Welcome back and happy Tuesday!  We had a great week last week with a short work week and more fun for us.  Thankfully the weather has continued to be very mild and pleasant which helps a lot.  We even got some thunderstorm rain that passed quickly but dumped a decent amount in a short time--the perfect summer type of storm.  Otherwise just the usual puppy play/training, chores, and more.

Here are last week's pictures:

Day 232- Monday, 8/19/24

I'm starting the week with a very full work day.  I'm only here 3 days this week which means I need to get 5 days of work done in those 3 days.  Today I was pulling sample from the freezer farm for a project which is always more time consuming than you'd think.  I'm also dealing with a sore inflamed arm from the 2nd Shingles shot I got Friday.  This is the only side effect but it's painful plus migrating down my arm from the original injection site which did not happen with the first dose.  Hopefully it will start improving soon because it's making it hard for me to work and also rest or sleep.

Day 233- Tuesday, 8/20/24

Today after work I took Bailey outside to play in the yard for a bit before her dinner and then heading to puppy training class. She hears our neighbor's dog, Popeye, barking which is why she's focused looking across the pool with perked ears. Luckily puppy class was nice and cool and Bailey did really well once she settled down a bit and even got some free play time with a couple of her new puppy friends.  Look at her-- doesn't really look like a puppy anymore but rest assured still acts like one.

Day 234- Wednesday, 8/21/24

John made us a nice steak dinner on a Wednesday which is really rare but it is like a Friday for us since I took time off the rest of the week for us to celebrate our anniversary.  It was all so good.

Day 235- Thursday, 8/22/24

Happy 32nd wedding anniversary to us!  We left the puppy in Justin's care so we could have a quick overnight staycation across the river.  We had a fun interactive and romantic dinner at the Melting Pot, took in a not so romantic movie at the theater (but still good and so us), and stayed the night on a riverboat with an amazing view of the Tower Bridge.  The last picture is the view from our room.

Day 236- Friday, 8/23/24

Today we had breakfast on the boat and then said goodbye to the Delta King.  That was a great little escape but now time to head back to reality. Once the puppy is a bit older we'll be able to travel further and stay away longer.

Day 237- Saturday, 8/24/24

The fun continues locally though because we still have the rest of the weekend and have friends in town that wanted to go wince tasting.  What a perfect coolish day for it too.  There was a bit of rain but it passed quickly so didn't stop us at all.  Cheers to the weekend!

Day 238- Sunday, 8/25/24

Now chores must be done in between playing with Bailey of course.  We're also finishing up watching this Showtime series that recently came available on Netflix.  It's a good one and I heard season 3 is coming out soon which is great because still so many loose ends to tie up.

That wraps up another full week and almost another month.  It's crazy to think Labor Day is just around the corner.

Week 33

Happy Tuesday and welcome back! We finally had a week here where we pretty much didn't need the air conditioning which hasn't happened in over 2 months now. It's been great to be able to do and enjoy more things outside again.  We'll take what we can get and wish for more to come.

Here are last week's pictures:

Day 225- Monday, 8/12/24

Yay for cloud cover that looked cool and cooled things down quite a bit.  We got some sprinkles too but really not that much.  Our pup has been missing time in the yard that she can enjoy for more than 10 min without needing to retreat from the heat.  This whole week was a good week for that.

Day 226- Tuesday, 8/13/24

The shadows from the afternoon sun shining through my glasses on the counter caught my eye today and not long after that we loaded Bailey up in the car and headed to puppy class.  Last week it was canceled due to the heat but we got to go today.  She's now used to car rides and doesn't whine nearly as much.  It helps now that the car is associated more with fun outings and not just vet visits.

Day 227- Wednesday, 8/14/24

Rusty is so cute napping and perfectly positioned there on the landing of the stairs.  Even Bailey sat quietly below admiring him for a good bit.  Speaking of Bailey she has mastered using her paws and claws to hold things which is great like when you have baby that learns to hold their own bottle.  In this case she can now hold her own bone.

Day 228- Thursday, 8/15/24

Another beautiful cool day perfect for enjoying some Frisbee and a pine-cone snack in the yard. We have a large Monterey pine tree that supplies Bailey with plenty of pine cones when they drops on the ground.  She really enjoys hunting them down and crunching her way through them.  To me it seems like it would hurt and rip her mouth up but they don't seem to bother her or stand a chance against her power chewing.

Day 229- Friday, 8/16/24

TGIF!  Justin is chilling after work with the pup at his feet and tonight we streamed the latest Mad Max movie which I have to admit was better than the older ones that I never really cared for.

Day 230- Saturday, 8/17/24

Look at the low 80's late afternoon temp!  We have not seen that during the light of day in a really long time. Today in Justin's world he saved a praying mantis at work and then later back at at home ate a chocolate covered scorpion he recently bought at a candy shop.  For me today I enjoyed being barefoot in the backyard with the pup.  The cool grass feels so good on the feet and our grass is looking much better with more water and less heat--it's not crunchy dry anymore.

Day 231- Sunday, 8/18/24

John fried up some chicken tenders that we enjoyed for dinner tonight while Bailey napped on her now bigger bed.  She has gotten so tall and so long that we needed another size upgrade but this should be the last of that.  She's almost 8 months now and won't grow too much more or at least not enough to outgrow this bed.  What happened to our little pup?

All done and ready to start the next week. See you there.

Week 32

Hello and welcome back!  Of course it was another hot week but we did have a cooling trend towards the end that we are still enjoying and much appreciate. Otherwise we made the most of staying cool inside until we could enjoy more time outside.  The pup of course would prefer the latter.

Take a peek at last week's pictures:

Day 218- Monday, 8/5/24

Speaking of the pup, playing fetch inside is the best way to exercise Bailey when it's too hot outside to let her run or to even go on a walk.  Justin was helping me entertain her this afternoon while John was at PT and I think she wore him out.  He sleeps while she's still go-go-go!

Day 219- Tuesday, 8/6/24

Got to love fresh summer produce gifted by good neighbors and cool pjs with a fun summer vibe.  Got to hate that it was too hot and puppy class was canceled again.  Hopefully next week.

Day 220- Wednesday, 8/7/24

Wednesday at work brings us random piles on my desk as we try to wrap up many of our summer research projects and a couple "pluots" from my boss's ranch.  Apparently they are a cross of plums and apricots.  Strange thought but the flavor is surprisingly nice.  They need a better name though.  Back at home a gentle delta breeze kicked in allowing us to finally enjoy an evening walk.  These pink clover flowers I mentioned last week were here to walk through again but then a couple days later the whole lawn was mowed over and they are now all gone!

Day 221- Thursday, 8/8/24

The pets and the stares I get from them. LOL!  Not sure why Bailey looks so sad.  I think maybe her tummy is telling her it's time for dinner and I'm telling her not yet.  Then Rusty is contemplating whether I'm worthy enough to have him on my lap today or not.  That's how cats roll--always on their terms and not nearly as eager to please as dogs.

Day 222- Friday, 8/9/24

TGIF!  Its a Costco frozen piazza kind of night--cool enough to turn the oven on for a change.  John made us refreshing tequila sunrise drinks with bendy straws for fun, and Justin is tired and hungry after a long day at work.  Then we streamed the new Planet of the Apes movie on Hulu as we settled in for the night.

Day 223- Saturday, 8/10/24

We had family dinner tonight with Tyler and Lupe instead of tomorrow due to conflicting plans and I made stuffed jumbo pasta shells which were super yummy.  Later we watched this funny new rom-com on Prime.  It ended up being a very international type of evening.

Day 224- Sunday, 8/11/24

Yay for a cool day and some time for the pup in the yard on the cool grass.  I lucked out and caught the setting sun rays right as they arched over her bouncing off my lens.  Then we put her in her dog run for some quiet time while we went out to a see the new Deadpool movie.  It was good and funny as well as wildly inappropriate at times but that was to be expected given the tone in the pervious Deadpool films.  Afterwards Justin went out with friends and it was too late to cook so John picked up take out for dinner.  Not a bad way to end a good week.

That wraps up another full week.  See you next time.
