Week 17

Welcome back to another week before heading into May.  This one was a much cooler and even wetter week.  We went back to winter for a bit.  It was also a very full week as you will see.

Take a peek at the pictures from last week:

 Day 111- Monday, 4/21/25

Rusty was relaxing on the stair landing with all his favorite toys just before I left for work first thing this morning.  Later at work I had to leave for a quick appointment in Davis so ended up parking in a further out lot on my return back but didn't really mind the walk in because the path is lined with beautiful poppies in bloom.

Day 112- Tuesday, 4/22/25

Bailey had her 1st annual vet checkup complete with more shots.  She's grown up really well, is super healthy, weighs 58 pounds now, and can be switched to adult dog food.  She's still nervous and not a huge fan of the vet office but is slowly becoming ok with it.  Later she was treated to a fun Earth Day inspired walk with her puppy class.

Day 113- Wednesday, 4/23/25

Wednesday at work I was offsite at a school in Woodland doing outreach.  We had 5 groups of 60-70 students each rotate through to our station for career day.

Day 114- Thursday, 4/24/25

Today I'm on-site in our building for more outreach.  It's Take Your Children to Work Day so we had many employees stop by with their kids to learn more about what we do in our different jobs on campus.

Day 115- Friday, 4/25/25

TGIF!  It's been such a busy week we are all so ready to just decompress and relax.  Our Friday night movie was a good suspenseful thriller we stumbled upon.  Not conducive to really relaxing but still worth the watch non-the-less.  Cheers to the weekend!

Day 116- Saturday, 4/26/25

It's been gloomy and windy out plus rain is expected overnight so before the yard gets muddy again I played some Frisbee with Bailey out back.  The poor pool is full of blossoms blowing down from the trees because of the wind.  These white blossoms are actually everywhere on the ground now and quite a few have made their way into our garage as we'll.  Not fun for the allergies. Later I was invited to a Pakistan restaurant to celebrate one of our students.  The food was really good and John was able to join me so it was a nice dinner out.

Day 117- Sunday, 4/27/25
Justin helpeed me run to the store to pick up stuff for dinner right after the rain stopped.  It was pretty wet and cold all morning but it is finally drying out and warming up so the day should end on a good note.  I also finished up this Netflix series I've been meaning to watch and it was really well done and based on true event.  What will be next?

That wraps up another week.  Thanks for stopping by.

Week 16

Welcome back and happy Tuesday! This past week we looked forward to it ending with Easter and were lucky enough to have perfect weather making for a great day.  The rest of the week was full of Easter prep and more appointments sprinkled in between work.

Here the pictures from last week:

Day 104- Monday, 4/14/25

I started off the week spending time in the bio-safety cabinet feeding our hungry organisms.  Back at home Justin shared this picture with me of  Rusty and him taking a warm afternoon nap together.

Day 105- Tuesday, 4/15/25

After remote work I dropped an Easter package off for delivery to Brandon and then swung by the dentist office to pick up my temporary retainer from the orthodontist.  I need to wear it a few nights a week for the next year--lucky me, but I do want my teeth to continue to stay straight so I'll deal.

Day 106- Wednesday, 4/16/25
Battle wounds!  The cat got me on my arm the other day and I just noticed the spot on the back of my leg which most likely came from gardening last weekend.  I totally don't remember getting hurt like that though and it looks like it should have been painful enough to be unforgettable.  In other news, Bailey received her April BARK Box and is patiently waiting for me to let her have at least one thing to play with right now.

Day 107- Thursday, 4/17/25

It has been a gorgeous week with a lot of sunshine and gentle breezes keeping the temps spot on.  Most of the trees in the park have their leaves now but there are a few stragglers just starting to bud.  I do like the cool shadows those trees cast on the grass in the bright sun though.  Back at home this evening, Bailey crashed from playing hard after a nice long walk. As you can see the first toy out of her new BARK box was the sword which doesn't look like much but she really likes chewing on the soft rubber handle end.  Also since it's warmer out, instead of the couch, we see her more and more choosing to nap on her bed positioned just under the ceiling fan. Smart girl!

 Day 108- Friday, 4/18/25

TGIF!  Yesterday afternoon I got my haircut and color refreshed.  Today it was a bit breezy out while I was trying to snap a picture of how it looks just after walking Bailey.  Inside, since The Pitt is over, we moved on to this new medical drama series from Netflix.  It's not as good as The Pitt but will do for now--more soapy and less realistic.

Day 109- Saturday, 4/19/25

I made a carrot cake today for us enjoy as our Easter dessert tomorrow and watched this newish comedy/horror movie that took us back in time.  We vividly remember Y2K and how unsure plus concerned we all were.  Thankfully it turned out to be nothing and not like this movie at all.

Day 110- Sunday, 4/20/25

Happy Easter!  We had a wonderful spring day enjoying good food and family time.

Now it's time to start thinking about summer as we head into the last full week of April.  How is May just around the corner already?

Week 15

Welcome back and happy Tuesday! We had another busy week but a nice, slow and quiet weekend to help us decompress plus recharge. Spring here is in full force with better temps, more bugs, lots of chirping birds, many pretty flowers and wonderful full trees providing good shade again. It's nice to be outside these days.

Take a look at out pictures from last week:

Day 97- Monday, 4/7/25

We're starting another week with another birthday.  Happy Birthday to John!  The first picture is from last night when we celebrated with family and the second one is from today as he received extra love from Bailey on his special day.

Day 98- Tuesday, 4/8/25

We're all loaded up and ready to head off to dog training class. Thankfully it's super nice out now which means we can start having more classes outside.  All the dogs love that.  After class we watched the start to the new season of Handmaid's Tale.  It's been 2 years since the last season so I was grateful for the nice recap at the beginning.  Kind of eerie watching this particular show now more than ever given our current political climate.

Day 99- Wednesday, 4/9/25

After work I had a blood draw just to for a regular health check and Bailey was a bit concerned.  I think the smell of the gauze and tape bothered her more than anything but nice to have her looking out for me.  Once I had a few minutes to relax and have bite to eat we both went out for a nice long walk through the park which is sporting a lot of new dandelions for spring.

Day 100- Thursday, 4/10/25

These two!  He really want's to hang out in the family room with us and she really wants to play with him but their energy and tolerance levels just don't quite match well yet.  We're working on slowly having them in the same space here and there but Bailey needs a bit more time to mature and settle more before Rusty will feel safe around her.  Outside our neighbors down the street have these uniquely colored daisies in bloom that catch my eye every time I walk by.

 Day 101- Friday, 4/11/25

Our pool's stone wall was fixed this week.  Turns out more than the surface stones needed fixed.  Some of the supporting cement on both ends had to be redone as well, but it's all good and solid now--ready for summer swim.  TGIF! All the pool work was noisy and stressed Bailey out so she was happy when they left and I came home so she could decompress in comfort.

Day 102- Saturday, 4/12/25

It's Rusty's turn for the comfort of my lap, and it was a quiet weekend so at least I had time to give to him.  We had nice low 80's temps so it was perfect for cropped pants and bare feet plus a light lunch.

Day 103- Sunday, 4/13/25

Today was another nice spring day and perfect for spending time out back doing some gardening.  I'm happy to see my rose bushes flourishing and starting to come into bloom.  The new leaf buds have also now all turned into pretty, full and vibrant leaves offering much needed shade.  It was also a great day to grill out back so John threw some nice steaks on the BBQ to serve up for our Sunday dinner. After, we watched another long awaited new season premiere.

Done for another week!  We're looking ahead to more wonderful weather and will marvel in that to feed the soul.

Week 14

Welcome back and happy Tuesday! Busy times here which makes us burn through the weeks pretty quickly. We're missing Brandon now since he's now with spring break and back in school. That was way too short and we most likely won't see him again until the end of July as his campus job will continue through the summer. At least there is still plenty of other things going on around here to help the time pass.

As for now, here last week's pictures:

Day 90- Monday, 3/31/25

Happy 24th Birthday Justin!  He's a great kid to have at home.  He really likes to help out where he can especially with yardwork or meal prep, enjoys grocery shopping with me, and gives the pets the extra attention they need.  The cake he requested turned out great and was enjoyed by all.

Day 91- Tuesday, 4/1/25

Welcome to April!  Spring has sprung with lot's of flowers in bloom and trees sporting new leaves, but the weather is still very hit and miss with a lot of rain still and even crazy amounts of snow in the mountains.  Mother Nature can't make up her mind!  The best thing about continued spotty rain is that there has been no need to water the yard on our own just yet and hopefully it will be enough to avoid a drought year.

Day 92- Wednesday, 4/2/25

Yesterday was sunny and warm while today is cloudy and cold with storm clouds rolling in.  At least it makes for a pretty scene across the park where I walk Bailey.

Day 93- Thursday, 4/3/25

When it's not raining, even though Justin has a car, he still prefers to ride his bike to work at the rec center.  Today he parked it inside after work because the dog was just put out for a nap in the garage and he didn't want to disturb her.  Rusty is not too sure about it being here though.

 Day 94- Friday, 4/4/25

TGIF!  Bailey sure know how to make herself right at home and as comfortable as can be.  After checking the basketball updates we streamed this new movie to watch. It was an interesting ride. Just when you think you have it all figured out to takes an extreme and unexpected turn.

Day 95- Saturday, 4/5/25

Brandon helped make a pancake breakfast this morning.  It will be his last meal with us before flying out and returning to school.  After dropping him at the airport we then joined some friends for dinner out at the Buckhorn in Winters. It was fun to catch up and enjoy a nice meal out.

Day 96- Sunday, 4/6/25

This is my early morning buddy who is saying, "Now that you have your coffee, what about me?" She's expecting some sort of special, long-lasting, weekend treat like a rawhide bone. Poor Rusty used to be my morning bud but got displaced.  He does have Justin to sleep in with though so enjoys that instead.  I long for the day when Bailey stops chasing after him and they can enjoy being in the same room together. Later, I worked on making another birthday cake and prepped for another Sunday family dinner celebration. This one is for John whose birthday is tomorrow.  Thank goodness Easter isn't next Sunday so I have at least a one week break before another celebration prep.

That's all for now.  Enjoy the rest of your week.
