Week 21

Hello and welcome back!  Happy Tuesday and happy June.  We're coming up on the last week of high school for Brandon and we're ready for the start of summer fun.  Thankfully there is a nice long weekend to help us kick it all off.

Day 144- Monday, 5/24/21

It's less windy today and pleasantly nice out which is perfect for an afternoon walk through the park.  We must enjoy it while we can because there is a heatwave expected for the end of the week.

Day 145- Tuesday, 5/25/21

Taco Tuesday for dinner with Margaritas.  No usual Tuesday afternoon into evening high-school tennis match so we could enjoy a nice leisurely meal together.  Turns out today is actually national wine day so I guess we drank the wrong thing.  LOL!

Day 146- Wednesday, 5/26/21

Justin started his rec center job today and was not expecting to be out in the sun all day so didn't put on sunscreen and got quite a nice burn on the back of his neck and arms.  Poor kid is in pain but learned a lesson about always being prepared for the unexpected.

Day 147- Thursday, 5/27/21

Brandon had his last tennis game for the season today and finally got to play in a varsity match so he earned his varsity letter.  After not playing tennis at all for the past 3-4 years he's come a long way in the just 2 months.  He started at number 20 out of 25 kids on the ladder and in one challenge match a week ago moved up to number 11 surprising the coach and all his teammates.  This puts him in a great position going into next year especially since the majority of the top 10 players are graduating seniors.  The boys team overall tied for league champs and the current seniors will play in sections just after school it out.

Day 148- Friday, 5/28/21

It's been a fun and interesting week receiving supplies for a summer workshop with Cal Poly Brandon is starting in a few weeks.  I can't wait to see how he uses all these materials and supplies to create models for the class.  He's always been interested in architectural design even from a super young age but isn't sure if that's what he wants to study in college and make a career out of.  Hopefully this will be a fun way to help him decide.

Day 149- Saturday, 5/29/41

Here's to slow starts on weekend mornings and the start of a 3-day weekend.  Today was mostly about running errands and doing chores to free up family time for the next 2 days.  At least I got to spend some time out in the yard and noticed these pretty flowers blooming out front. Today is still pleasant out but it will start to heat up for real tomorrow. The one thing we did to unwind and relax later was watch the Friends reunion show on HBOmax--so fun with a lot of good memories.

Day 150- Sunday, 5/30/21

Here we go with the heat.  It started off nice and cool in the morning to help ease us in and then got hot quick. Tomorrow will be even worse for sure before we cool back down to the 90's.  It's perfect though to warm the pool so we can open it for the season.  We spent most the evening together after Sunday dinner in the backyard. It started off with the traditional first jump in the pool to kick off summer on this holiday weekend and then ended with gathering around our new fire pit to enjoy s'mores.  Not a bad way to spend some time together plus we get another day tomorrow.  Yay!  More family fun to come.
