Week 43

Welcome back and happy Tuesday.  I hope everyone had a good Halloween.  Ours wasn't quite as fun without the boys but we still made the most of it. Last week was a rough one for us. I can't say it enough that I'm so ready for this year to end.  We're healing and adjusting and carrying on as we hope for better times.

Take a look at last week's pictures:

Day 297- Monday, 10/24/22

Here's Bella at dinnertime just waiting patiently drooling all over the floor--her favorite time of day.  We're a little late coming back from PT and she knows it.  After everyone was fed we settled down to continue working through The Watcher on Netflix which is the perfect short series building up to Halloween.

Day 298- Tuesday, 10/25/22

Today was the perfect day to have pizza for dinner.  It will also help feed us through the week with our busy schedule making it hard to find the time for cooking.

Day 299- Wednesday, 10/26/22

Wednesday at work it's a cold fall morning requiring a nice warm cup of coffee and a cozy winter sweater.  Later at home I also had to bust out the winter PJs and slippers.  The week leading to to Halloween is always the time when the cold finally settles in for us.

Day 300- Thursday, 10/27/22

What a day!  John was required to get a colonoscopy as part of the checklist of things he must do before a transplant so today was the day and it was all consuming.  Sadly, on top of that, Bella took a turn for the worse.  Something happened to the vestibular part of her brain that messed up her balance and made her fall when she tried to walk plus caused her to refuse food and water.  Unfortunately one or more of the falls also further hurt her already failing hips and there was nothing more we could do for her.  This is the last picture I took of her and at least she looks bright a happy here.  We were able to have a vet come to the house where she felt most comfortable and she could be surrounded by love as she passed.  She was pushing 14 which is pretty much the top end of life expectancy for her breed so she lived a good long life and did an amazing job helping us raise our 3 boys.  We all take comforting in knowing she is at peace and continuing to watch over and protect us from above.

Day 301- Friday, 10/28/22

Today I'm getting emotional support, comfort, and love from Rusty with his  kitty cuddles.  I know he feels the loss too.

Day 302- Saturday, 10/29/22

It's a beautiful fall day and a nice slow weekend.  Being outside in nature is very healing and I'm thankful to have a nice backyard to retreat to when a I need a bit of peace.  This is the best time to enjoy it before the cold, wind, and rain start setting in.  We finished The Watcher and have moved on to the Friday the 13th movies.  They seemed so iconic back in the day but I don't think I actually saw the first few before so it's interesting to see how Jason evolves through the movies.

Day 303- Sunday, 10/30/22

The cauldron is filled and ready for Halloween tomorrow.  We usually get a lot of treaters in our area although it hasn't been quite the same since the pandemic so we'll see what this year brings.  Sharon and Richie picked us up for brunch today and this place specializes in brunch so you know it was good.  It's also nice to spend time with friends and get out more.  We have the greatest friends and best support system.

That's all for now.
