Week 42

Welcome back!  I'm running a bit late this week. Last week was super busy and very full of appointments but we got to end on a good note and had some fun so it was all worth it.

Here's how last week went down:

Day 290- Monday, 10/17/22

We stared the week with a nice colorful sunrise.  You can't beat that.  Later, after work, we had to to get a COVID test for John so he can get a fit/stress test at the end of the week.  The COVID testing center was close to where his Cardio PT was happening so we arrived a little early for that but it was fine because it gave us a little down time in the healing garden.

Day 291-- Tuesday, 10/18/22

Today in between remote work we had PT at Sci/Fit where he got to try to use a cane for the first time.  It was harder than he expected but still good to try.  His left leg needed more strength for that and now we know.  Afterward we had to get a blood draw done so his blood work is ready for his UCSF dr visit on Friday.

Day 292- Wednesday, 10/19/22

There was only 1 appointment today so it was nice to have a bit of a break.  I was able to take the dog for a pretty fall walk and then we had a yummy fall dinner including bacon wrapped pork tenderloin cuts and garlic herb pasta paired with a hard cider.

Day 293- Thursday, 10/20/22

Today more appointments including leg PT and another COVID test this time for a procedure happening next week.  I sure do a lot of waiting in waiting rooms these days. At least we were done early so and it was another beautiful fall day out so time for another long dog walk.  These walks help me clear my head and regroup.

Day 294- Friday, 10/21/22

We're off to San Francisco to see the transplant team.  We have 3 appointments booked for today and the 1st is just after 8am so we left the house a super early and caught a ferry into the city all before the sun came up.  It was eerie but also peaceful arriving before the city was really awake.   We're staying the night at the Hyatt right near the ferry terminal so we dropped our bags there before ubering around to appointments.  It was a really long and exhausting day but since we got to have dinner with friends in the city at John's Grill which was a great way to end the day.  Side note- the transplant team will be adding John to the transplant list after another visit in a few weeks to do one more test that will help determine what position on the list he'll be added to.  It a process but we're headed in the right direction now since recovery without does not look like an option.

Day 295- Saturday, 10/22/22

Today was all about more fun and more friends while still in the city where John grew up. We got to sleep in at our hotel near the port, then had a nice lunch on the pier and hung out with friends clowning around laughing the day away.  It was the happiest I've seen John in a long time.  I tell you what though--San Francisco is not an easy place to navigate in a wheelchair with it's many steep hills, crazy traffic and next to no handicapped parking.

Day 296- Sunday, 10/23/22

Today we caught up on weekend chores and decompressed from our trip.  We also watched the season finale of House of the Dragon. What a week!

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you next week.
