Week 14

Hello and happy Tuesday! Last week was fun with Brandon home on spring break and it's always nice to have extra hands to keep the puppy entertained.  He was really good at that.  Now it's back to school for him so this coming week will be pretty quiet at home anyway--work is another story.  At least the weather is supposed to be really nice again.  We just wrapped up some crazy on and off days of wild weather so we're ready for spring-like conditions again.

Here are last week's pictures:

Day 92- Monday, 4/1/24

Welcome to a new month! I was able to get this cute April fool to pose with my monthly marker.  I think she's expecting a treat for her efforts.

Day 93- Tuesday, 4/2/24

The flowers out front came into bloom over the weekend.  Today is nice and sunny but more storms are brewing with a cold front coming down from Alaska so we'll go from near 80 today to highs in the few days.

Day 94- Wednesday, 4/3/24

In the morning, before heading to work, when I bring Bailey in she runs for her bone, brings it to me, and whines while waiting for me to sit and cuddle with her before I leave.  She's super happy Brandon is around to play all day and he loves receiving kisses from her.

Day 95- Thursday, 4/4/24

IT finally finished adding all their security stuff to my new work computer and getting it set up in my new space.  We're still working on getting the printer to accept it though.  Back at home we had thunder, lightening, and even hail which is the white stuff on that table out back.  It was a crazy ride for a couple hours.

Day 96- Friday, 4/5/24

Brandon flies back to school today and said his goodbyes to the pup.  She sulked the rest of the evening. That poor bird toy of hers has taken a beating especially to the head.  It's not going to last much longer.  She hasn't discovered the joy of ripping stuffing out of a toy just yet, but I know it's coming.

Day 97- Saturday, 4/6/24

Spring-like condition are back so time for fun with a new Frisbee out in the yard.  She had a blast but still loves eating grass and pine cones more.  Later we had dinner out with the Chan's so they could treat John for his birthday which is tomorrow.  Cheers to that!  It was nice to get out.

Day 98- Sunday, 4/7/24

Happy Birthday John!  We went out to dinner with Tyler tonight to celebrate--steak yesterday and Mexican today.  Then we continued the celebration with presents and cake back at home.  It was a great way to end the week.

That's all.  Hope to see you back next week.

Week 13

Welcome back! Running late again.  We had a busy weekend so I had no real time to get this post ready and once my work week starts it's even harder, but all is good.  March was just very full and super busy but now that we're in April this month is looking chill for a nice break before the craziness of May starts.

Take a look at how we ended March:

Day 85- Monday, 3/25/24

At work they are changing things up in terms of desk space so I had the opportunity to move to a spot closer to our lab and spent the better part of the day getting moved and set up in the new space.  I'm also expecting a new computer to arrive next week.  Back at home Rusty has rediscovered his blanket cave.  I'm not sure why but for the past several week he's avoided it.  Maybe it had something to do with the us bringing home the puppy?  Whatever the reason I'm Just happy to see him back enjoying his naps here.

Day 86- Tuesday, 3/26/24

Speaking of Rusty he also really enjoys my remote work days when he can have some morning time with me while I drink my coffee and gear up to hit the computer.  Today I also started prepping for Easter and spent some time in the afternoon with Bailey who wants to know why the cat has free range of the house and not her.

Day 87- Wednesday, 3/27/24

Wednesday at work the sky was full of cool clouds as I made my way to get coffee.  There is another couple storms brewing but at least the forecast for Easter is looking good.  After coffee I had a bunch of serology tests to run on clinical marine mammal samples.  Back at home Bailey was happy to have my lap for a nice nap after some playtime outside.  She's getting too big to be able to do this much longer.  Love her lanky legs and cute little paws.

Day 88- Thursday, 3/28/24

Brandon flew home for spring break and got to finally meet Bailey.  He's lucky because his brothers did a great job socializing her so she warmed right up to him and was not nearly as fearful.

Day 89- Friday, 3/29/24

It's cold and gloomy out with wind and rain but should start to clear tomorrow.  I was home for a university holiday so I did chores and the pets helped.  Rusty supervised as I made the bed and Bailey was intrigued by the whole laundry process.

Day 90- Saturday, 3/30/24

It's time for Bailey's 3 month shots.  She's 13 weeks now and growing like a weed.  Last month she was 12 lbs. and now she is 20 lbs.  Thankfully with a more mature bladder she's also potty trained. She did amazing at the vet visit and was happy to have her new best friend there to support her.  Recently she has taken a liking to the larger adult size crate we have so it won't be long before we upgrade her.  She was WAY too tiny for it when we first got her but is now rocking it like a boss!

Day 91- Sunday, 3/31/24

Happy Easter! We enjoyed a great brunch with most of us here on this beautiful spring day.  Today just so happens to also be Justin's 23rd birthday.  Sadly he's could not be here but we did celebrate with him while he was on break a couple week's ago.

That's it!  Hopefully April will be a lot less eventful so I catch up on things and keep more on track.

Week 12

Hello and Happy Tuesday!  I'm hopefully getting back on track with posting since travels are over and my schedule is back to normal.  Last week was a very full and long week. I had a 2-day work event and John was traveling which left me on puppy duty alone but we all survived and made the most of it.

Here are last week's pictures:

Day 78- Monday, 3/18/24

The name of the game these days is: How well can you wear the puppy out so you can relax at the end of the day?  She is full of so much energy, and as she gets older needs less naps so we really look forward to times like this when she is finally winding down and mellowing out.

Day 79- Tuesday, 3/19/24

Day 1 of my work event.  This is our institute's annual meeting which went from 8am until 7pm today.  There were panel discussions, a few presentations, and an expo to showcase everyone's work.  I was in charge of pulling together the booth for our lab and it was a great success.  Thankfully just after the expo we were treated to dinner and drinks.

Day 80- Wednesday, 3/20/24

Today is Day 2 of our OHI annual meeting.  Thankfully it was only a half day today and we ended with a nice big group picture.  I'm on the right, standing in the back, and the 3rd person over.  John left for a March Madness trip with one of his friends right around the same time my meeting ended.  He'll be gone for 3 nights so the next few days I have full on puppy duty.  This evening she sat in John's spot watching TV with me. after I ran her outside for a good bit.  It's great to not only have Survivor back on but now The Amazing Race too.

Day 81- Thursday, 3/21/24

Juggling work and puppy alone duty is a lot.  Let's just say I've been sleeping really well lately from exhaustion.  Bailey turns 3 month this week.  She's all about testing her limits and causing trouble while enjoying burning off pent-up energy playing ball and collecting pinecones outside.  This evening she was missing her daddy but then found comfort sleeping on me while I started to watch the new season of Grey's Anatomy.

Day 82- Friday, 3/22/24

TGIF!  We were outside a lot this afternoon running in the yard when I got home from work.  This week has been so nice and spring like which has been great but we can tell there is a storm brewing which will last through Sunday morning.  We actually felt a few raindrops start to fall just before headed back inside.  After dinner I decided it was time for a new bone to keep this pup entertained and it worked like magic allowing for a nice mellow evening. The force to chew is strong with this one!

Day 83- Saturday, 3/23/24

Today was all about the pouring rain.  I don't really mind because if it keeps raining every couple weeks that means I have more time before we have to turn the sprinklers on so bring it! In other news, John is back from his trip and someone is very happy to see him. Thankfully the snow over the mountain pass wasn't too bad for his travels.  Now we can tag team this pup!

Day 84- Sunday, 3/24/24

The rain has stopped and it's nice and sunny again so time to play hard in the yard which will lead into a nice long afternoon nap.  Look at the damage she has done to that big bone already.  We're also going to need to get her a larger bed soon.

Done and happy to be enjoying a much more relaxed and slower week right now.  Plus we're looking forward to Brandon's spring break--more puppy support and he can't wait to help.
