Week 8

Welcome back and happy Tuesday!  Since last week was a short work week it went by super fast.  Actually this whole month has flown by super fast. Things were pretty full and crazy at work but since basketball is over things after work are at a much slower pace allowing me enjoy taking in the start of spring.  I know we can use more rain but these nice weather days that are waking up the dormant plant life help lift the spirits and lighten the load.

Here are last week's pictures:

Day 48- Monday, 2/17/20
We're home for President's day so we decided to go out to lunch and take in a fun movie with Brandon.  Doesn't he look thrilled?  LOL--teens!  I survived 2 others at this stage I can survive this one too.

Day 49- Tuesday, 2/18/20
He's caged himself and I'm not sure why although it does provide protection so I'm sure he feels safe there.  Crazy cat!

Day 50- Wednesday, 2/19/20
It was a minimum day and we had errands to run so I picked Brandon and his bike up right after school to bang those out.  Look at the blue sky and sunshine. It's so nice out!  Later I finished the last few pieces in my Valentine's chocolate box.  Yum!  I leave the ones with sprinkles for last because they make the biggest mess.  They taste great but I don't like finding small stains later from rouge sprinkles.  Haha! Now it's time for a sugar cleanse--until Easter anyway. 😉

Day 51- Thursday, 2/20/20
It was a great day to walk between buildings on campus.  Spring is in the air and the ground is littered with Mother Nature's flower confetti.  I still need a light sweater and long pants but lost the socks and boots so we're getting there.

Day 52- Friday, 2/21/20
Cheers to the weekend!  Time for a drink, pizza rolls, and JoJo Rabbit.  Never heard of this movie until the Oscars and it seems like it would be an odd movie to watch but it was really good.

Day 53- Saturday, 2/22/20
It's National Margarita Day so we decided to have Mexican food for dinner.  John made a batch of Chili Verde which we haven't had in awhile and I made some fresh guacamole so it was the  perfect feast to accompany our drinks.

Day 54- Sunday, 2/23/20
Another beautiful day and a great day for some time on the bike.  While John took off for his Sunday ride I noticed the tree out front starting to bloom.  The pink flowers add some much needed color out there and make me happy to see.

That's it!  Come back next week for more fun hopefully in more sun.

Week 7

Here we are at Tuesday again. It feels like a Monday though just coming off a 3-day weekend. At least we were able to relax and have fun over the short break. Now it's time to start a new work week still understaffed but with no more high school basketball so I get my afternoons and evenings back which is a wonderful thing. I'm looking forward to using the extra time to focus on restarting my fitness routine so I can tone up and slim down for the warmer months.

Here's a look at last week's pictures:

Day 41- Monday, 2/10/20
It was a breezy day and colder than it's been in awhile so we bundled up for our evening walk.  At least the sun was shining and helped add a bit of warmth.  We also saw a bunch of dandelion flowers which I know are weeds but I love seeing the pop of yellow against the green grass.

Day 42- Tuesday, 2/11/20
All month I've been looking for my heart wreath and finally found it today so after work before heading to a snack bar shift I took some fun pictures of the pets that I can send to the college kids Friday for Valentine's Day.

Day 43- Wednesday, 2/12/20
Tonight is the last home basketball game and thankfully we won by a lot so in the end everyone got to play.

Day 44- Thursday, 2/13/20
We have a pretty red flower blooming in the back just in time for Valentine's Day so I captured it before heading out to travel for the very last basketball game of the season.  That's it folks!  We're all very ready for this to end.  Sadly we got creamed (look at the score) but this also meant that everyone played again so it started out as the worst game but then ended as the best game where the bench kids got to shine.

Day 45- Friday, 2/14/20
Happy Valentine's Day!  It was nice for it to be on a Friday and we celebrated at home with a yummy dessert that Brandon helped make.  He baked the brownies and I pulled it all together for that wow factor.  Thank you John for the beautiful flowers and great wine!

Day 46- Saturday, 2/15/20
Since we knew yesterday would be a crazy night to go out we decided to have our Valentine dinner and a movie tonight.  We ate the Zinfandel Grille and the watched a romantic love story.

Day 47- Sunday, 2/16/20
In between chores I hung out in our home office working on my new laptop (a much needed birthday gift) to get my blog updated and ready for today's post.  I try to always get that mostly done on Sundays and finished up by Monday night.  While I was there Rusty decided that my lap would be a great place for him to try and nap.  Looking ahead we're all happy tomorrow is a holiday.  Three day weekends are the best.

That's it! See you next week as we adjust to life after basketball which will be a welcomed adjustment for sure.

Week 6

Welcome back and happy Tuesday!  Last week was busy and went by super fast.  A lot of things are happening at work and at home plus with the college kids.  Sometimes it's hard to keep it all straight, but I'm doing my best and happy to keep charging on.  At least there is another long weekend coming up that will bring a much needed break.

Take a look at last week's pictures:

Day 34- Monday, 2/3/20
I'm kicking the work week off right getting things done first thing and then moving between buildings to get even more things done.  At least it's nice and sunny out and I finally located our new building sign which has been over 10 years in the making.  Better late than never I suppose.

Day 35- Tuesday, 2/4/20
Basketball game #1 one for the week.  These kids on the bench work hard, have the best attitudes, and are all heart but sadly get very little play time.  Even still they are MY favorite players.

Day 36- Wednesday, 2/5/20
We have very little color in our yard these days but the tree behind the pool is at least showing some and attracting humming birds.  Next month I'm sure the rest will be in full bloom as well.  Then there is this teen boy and his checkered Vans which all the rage right now.  He and many of his friends have these black ones and Tyler has some red ones.  When he's not in these he's in his basketball shoes.

Day 37- Thursday, 2/6/20
Basketball game #2 for the week at McClatchy High School, our biggest rival. I like their old style gym.  There's only one more week of basketball left.

Day 38- Friday, 2/7/20
I like how the morning sun shines through the winter grass at work and later at home I like the new crosswalks they finally put in for the school kids in our neighborhood. This must be the year to get things done because it too took over 10 years to happen.  We were asking for them back when my grown children were in grade school.  It's about time and really needed on this busy, fast-traffic road.

Day 39- Saturday, 2/8/20
While I was out shopping to restock the fridge and pantry John was out picking up Chinese pork buns (bao).  He misses these from the city but recently was told of a local place to try and it his new weekend thing to do.

Day 40- Sunday, 2/9/20
What are the college kids up to?  Justin took over Humboldt's Instagram account this week.  A school photographer took some great pictures of him on campus to get him started and then he posted his own pictures about his job, clubs, favorite places and whatnot.  He did a good job and enjoyed it a lot.  Tyler was recently selected to go to Ecuador for spring break as part of UCLA's Global Medical Training group and these are the other kids he'll be going with.  They get together weekly for mock clinics, to practice medical Spanish words and do team building activities like this hike.  The plane tickets are purchased and he's excited about his upcoming trip happening in March.

That's it!  See you next week.

Week 5

Welcome back and happy Tuesday!  Last week started out pretty routine and low-key especially after our very full and eventful week before but then things picked up and more fun was had.  Bye-bye January!

Here are last week's pictures:

Day 27- Monday, 1/27/20
It's back to reality at work starting the week with another great sunrise view from up on the 5th floor.

Day 28- Tuesday, 1/28/20
Time for a much needed haircut especially since he has basketball pictures later this week and his learner's permit picture which will eventually become his driver's license picture next week.

Day 29- Wednesday, 1/29/20
The only basketball game this week and I think one of our last home games.  Most of the games in February will be on the road and only for a couple more weeks before they are done with the season.  I see the end in sight.

Day 30- Thursday, 1/30/20
Rusty seeking out some afternoon love and warmth.  Those whiskers though.

Day 31- Friday, 1/31/20
Time for a night out with friends.  They couldn't make the birthday ski trip last week so they treated me to dinner and drinks tonight.  Always a good time with the Wongs.

Day 32- Saturday, 2/1/20
Welcome to a new month!  It's now February and Bella was happy to pose with my monthly marker for a treat of course.

Day 33- Sunday, 2/2/20
We're watching the 49ers in the Super Bowl and it was a good game right up until the 4th quarter when it just all fell apart.  Oh well--next year!

Wait!  One more:

January's Family Photo

It's just the 3 of us at home again for the next couple months.

Ok- All done!  See you next week.
