Week 18

Welcome back and happy Tuesday!  May is going to be a very full month navigating everything at home, work, and also college kid summer plans with one moving home and the other visiting here and there.  I'll have 2 road trips this month first heading south and later heading north to help out these boys.  We can't wait to have them around again for a few months anyway.  Good luck to them as they approach finals week.

Here are last week's pictures (it will be nice in the coming weeks to add more subjects to the mix but for now it's just still all about me, John and the cat):

Day 121- Monday, 5/1/23

We start off this new week in a new month and I pose with the monthly marker out back near some May flowers.  There are not too many blooms on this rosebush yet but it should be in full bloom for Mother's Day weekend so I'm happy about that.

Day 122- Tuesday, 5/2/23

After a summer-like week last week this week we'll have scattered thunder storms all week with a lot of rain here and there.  The clouds are already threatening and our house painting that was supposed to start yesterday will now be pushed to next week.  For dinner we had leftover homemade pozole from Lupe's mom.  It was perfect for this cold wet night.  Today is Lupe's birthday so we were invited to her birthday dinner Sunday at her parent's house and sent home with some of this wonderful dish.

Day 123- Wednesday, 5/3/23

I'm sitting here in my usual spot as I wait and watch at John's PT.  Sometimes I have errands to run but usually I'm here cheering him on and marveling at his progress.  Then later at home there was no basketball game for a change so we got to watch Survivor while enjoying dessert.  In all honestly it's almost too cold for ice-cream this week but that didn't stop us.

Day 124- Thursday, 5/4/23

The rain has been a lot worse than we expected and will continue on and off through Saturday.  At least it makes for perfect napping weather and we're saving money on the watering bill--no need for those sprinklers this week.  In other news, Davis has been tormented by a person violently stabbing and killing people at night.  There were 3 very violent stabbings every 2 days for the past 6 days but they finally arrested the person of interest today.  On the map are the places the stabbings took place and then the 4th marker is where the suspect (a third year student) lives and was taken into custody.  It's been horrible and so unnerving for this small college town that prides itself on walking and/or biking to mostly get around.  No one felt save doing that this past week.  Thankfully we can be at ease now and start to heal as a community of residents, students, and workers. Sadly, 2 victims lost their lives while the third is thankfully recovering.  Honestly, I'm not sure what is happening to this country with all the shootings and other senseless attacks like this.  Something has got to change.

Day 125- Friday, 5/5/23

Happy Cinco de Mayo and cheers to the weekend!  We picked up a nice Mexican meal at a good local place after PT today and it was the perfect end to our work week.

Day 126- Saturday, 5/6/23

I'm an early riser even on weekends so the first thing I saw when I turned on the TV this morning was the Coronation of King Charles.  I didn't really watch it but saw highlights later.  Gotta love the spirit of Prince Louis!  It's hard being 5 at a formal and proper event like this and I can't get enough enough of his spirited personality.  Back in the real world, after the rain stopped for the day, John got to drive for the first time in over a year.  His Dr. gave him clearance earlier this week so we headed out to give it a try and work out all the logistics not so much of driving but more of getting in and out of the car with his crutches plus seeing how we'll or how long he can fair without needing a chair.  It was good for him to give it a try and realize his limits before he drives solo.  He's super excited to have this freedom back and our view on the drive was quite pleasant.

Day 127- Sunday, 5/7/23

Today was a beautiful day--finally!  I took advantage of the sunshine and worked in the yard again finding some new flowers in bloom by the pool.  The pool looks great in the distance but up close it's littered with tree blossoms that were blow off by the storm winds.  At least it's a pretty type of litter.  I also had to use a tree saw to remove a limb that had grown over to the top of our side roof and would be in the way of painters coming next week.  It was a pretty fat limb and I didn't think I would be able to do it with just a simple saw but couldn't use a chainsaw since it was too high up.  It was a lot of work and I almost gave up but got it done.  Yay!  I'm sure I'll pay for it tomorrow.  My arms feel like jello.

That's all.  Next week is looking clear and very warm again so the house painting will for sure happen.
