Week 9

Welcome back and happy Tuesday!  Look at us into March already.  March is a super busy month with a lot of comings and goings plus some work craziness.  All that will make the month fly by really fast.  We had some extreme storms in the mountains outside of us this past week so we're all looking forward to drying out and hopefully having more spring-like weather.  Of course the puppy is keeping us super busy too as you will see.

Here's a peek at last week's pictures:

Day 57- Monday, 2/26/24

This is the calm before the storm expected for later in the week.  It's still a little breezy here as you can see by the toppled chair but otherwise super nice out so we'll soak that sunshine up while we can.  Other than that, Bailey had a visitor today that brought her a new toy which she quite enjoys. We'll need to have more visitors over because she's super shy and needs to be socialized better to people.

Day 58- Tuesday, 2/27/24
She's so sweet when she sleeps and look at those super cute feet but when she plays she is super mouthy and has razor sharp teeth.  It looks more like I have a new kitten than a new puppy.  We're working on her learning to be more mindfully and gentle with humans vs toys.

Day 59- Wednesday, 2/28/24

This is supposed to be our last day of good weather for awhile and today did not disappoint--it was gorgeous out.  Thankfully here in the valley we won't get hit as hard as the mountains where they are expecting a huge blizzard that will dump tons of snow. After my work day it was nice to unwind while watching the start of a new Survivor season.  Many other shows that shut down due to the writer's strike are finally starting to air their new seasons so it will be good couple of months with way too much to watch and catch up on.

Day 60- Thursday, 2/29/24

The skies are angry today and the temperatures have dropped.  Rain showers are expected on and off over next couple days.  It's also a leap year and today is leap day.  Bailey was doing some leaping today as she played fetch.  She's so enthusiastic and great at it plus it's the best way to wear her out.

Day 61- Friday, 3/1/24

Happy March!  I still can't believe it's March already. Bailey had a set of shots she needed to get  this afternoon and that whole experience wiped her out.  She did well but is still super shy around others.  It will be easier to socialize her once the series of puppy shots are done and she can go out more.  TGIF!  Cheers to the weekend and a good movie to stream.

Day 62- Saturday, 3/2/24

This pup is 9wks old now and she weighs 12 pounds.  I can tell she's longer and taller plus has a more mature face and sleeker coat. We're working on getting her used to being alone in her crate/dog run for short periods during the day.  She's great about it at night but not so much in the day.  John and I left her (first time both of us gone since bringing her home) while we did a wine pickup.  It was nice for us to get out together and good for her to practice.  We left her some treat release puzzles to keep her busy and when we returned she was quiet (no whining or barking like she was when we walked out the door) and doing well so that was a success and we'll continue to practice each day.  While we were out it was crazy to see how high the river is now as we traveled up on the levee road.  This should be the last of the rain for awhile.  We can all use a break.

Day 63- Sunday, 3/3/24

Our tree out front didn't mind that rain and came into bloom over the paste few days.  I found this food bowl on Amazon to help slow the pup from eating to quickly.  It's not uncommon for labs to inhale their food without chewing which is not good for their digestion and this bowl helps a lot with that. It's pretty cute how she spins around the dish as she's eating to make sure she gets all the kibble out.  The past week I also worked on being more intentional about giving Rusty the me time he needs.  That first week with the pup stressed him quite a bit but he's doing better now and seems to have relaxed and adjusted to having her around.  Lastly, that storm in the mountains was insane and had roads closed for a couple days.  They're still digging out up there.  One of the ski areas had wind gust as high as 190 MPH!  Picture credit: Mario Tama/Getty images

That's it!  Hope to see you back next week. Justin will be comin home for spring break and can help socialize Bailey some more plus give Rusty extra attention.
