Week 11

Welcome back!  This past week was super busy so I'm super late but better late than never.  March is kicking my butt so I'm looking forward to April where things should settle down both at home and work.

Take a look at week 11's pictures:

Day 71- Monday, 3/11/24

The weather has been amazing lately with blue skies and sunshine so we are taking it all in and trying to spend more time outside.  Our backyard trees are getting their beautiful new leaves.  The vibrant green color is amazing to see.  Bailey loves the grass and I think is part cow because she just can't stop grazing on it.  Later we watched this Academy Award nominated movie now streaming on Hulu.  It was very weird and interesting but not exactly what I was expecting.

Day 72- Tuesday, 3/12/24

Today started with such an amazing sunrise and was a  milestone day for these two.  After 5 days home Bailey finally decided that Justin is safe enough to cuddle with--unfortunately he has to leave tomorrow.  Go figure!  Regardless, he's over the moon about his successful day with her and can't wait to return in May for even more puppy time.

Day 73- Wednesday, 3/13/24

It's a travel day for us.  I'm driving Justin back to Humboldt.  We have a scheduled photo shoot tomorrow for professional graduation pictures that was too hard to squeeze in when he graduated in December.  Thankfully the weather is cooperating and all the crazy rain that happened last week and first part of this week has stopped. We had time to kill once we arrived and needed to stretch our legs so we checked out the new bear habitat at the local zoo and then grabbed sushi for dinner before checking into the hotel to relax.  It was a long but great day and so nice to be up here amongst these amazing giant trees again.

Day 74- Thursday, 3/14/24

We were up at sunrise on the Cal Poly Humboldt campus to have pictures taken. The timing is perfect since it's still spring break so the campus is pretty much all ours making for an easy shoot.  It also happens to be Pi Day so of course we hit up our favorite pie place for lunch and then after we hiked through this amazing redwood grove just outside of town.  The big trees are so cool and the air is so fresh here.

Day 75- Friday, 3/15/24

After a long and lonely drive back I'm home and get to spend time with my pup. John did amazing with her all by himself for a couple days.  It was a great successful trip but it's also good to be home.  Someone certainly missed me.

Day 76- Saturday, 3/16/24

Rusty also missed me and got his time alone with me this morning while the puppy was napping after breakfast.  What a wonderful spring day with some more amazing flowers blooming.  Too bad they make the allergies act up.

Day 77- Sunday, 3/17/24

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Bailey who is 11 weeks now played a lot with her green dragon today, and John made us some festive green-apple martini's to enjoy.  May the luck of the Irish be with you!

That's wraps up a very full week and the next week will be just as busy if not more so.  Buckle up and enjoy the ride!

Week 10

Welcome back!  I'm behind this week because life gets in the way and I'm actually traveling right now using a downtime break to get this post put out there. At least it's all good things to enjoy keeping me from the computer.

Here are last week's pictures:

Day 64 - Monday, 3/4/24

The skies are still angry and there are still storms brewing for at least the next couple days.  It's nice to see a beautiful sunrise through those clouds though.  The Sierras have received record breaking snow and hopefully they get a break soon so everyone can dig out up there.  I think they finally were able to open the roads again later today.  Back at home, after work, this puppy who missed me makes sure to get a nap on my lap.  I love how her collar has chocolate colored hearts--too cute and perfect for her.

Day 65 - Tuesday, 3/5/24

Time to vote.  I always vote by mail because it's just easier and glad they now give us stickers with our mail-in ballots. Later we wrapped up watching  this new mini-series.  It had so many loose ends to different storylines when it was over that I sure hope their will be a second season soon.

Day 66 - Wednesday, 3/6/24

This girl is a little pistol and keeps us on our toes.  She plays hard and then crashes hard.  Those tending to her often need to crash hard as well.  LOL!

Day 67 - Thursday, 3/7/24

Yay for warm sunshine and a yard that has finally started to dry out. I see more and more spring flowers popping up even in unexpected places..  This was the first time Bailey was able to run is the larger part of our yard and she had a blast especially in the grass.

Day  68 - Friday, 3/8/24

Justin took the train home today for spring break.  It's great to have him back for a few days.  We're planning to see Dune part 2 tomorrow so we re-watched part 1 since it's been awhile.  Bailey is a bit shy with strangers.  She is curious about Justin but hasn't quite warmed up to him yet.  Justin snapped this cute picture of her sneaking a peek at him. TGIF!

Day 69 - Saturday, 3/9/24

Movie time!  Tyler and Lupe joined us too.  They are getting their snacks at the concession as we wait to head in.  Good flick--super long but worth it and so glad we re-watched the 1st one before seeing this one.

Day 70 - Sunday, 3/10/24

Bailey is 10 weeks now and growing like a weed.  She likes to watch the TV when she's resting and is getting almost too big to pick up and sit on my lap although she'll never admit to that.

That's it! Next week is a super busy in the work realm so I may be late posting again especially since Tuesday I'll be in a conference until after 7 pm.  I'm already tired just thinking about it.

Week 9

Welcome back and happy Tuesday!  Look at us into March already.  March is a super busy month with a lot of comings and goings plus some work craziness.  All that will make the month fly by really fast.  We had some extreme storms in the mountains outside of us this past week so we're all looking forward to drying out and hopefully having more spring-like weather.  Of course the puppy is keeping us super busy too as you will see.

Here's a peek at last week's pictures:

Day 57- Monday, 2/26/24

This is the calm before the storm expected for later in the week.  It's still a little breezy here as you can see by the toppled chair but otherwise super nice out so we'll soak that sunshine up while we can.  Other than that, Bailey had a visitor today that brought her a new toy which she quite enjoys. We'll need to have more visitors over because she's super shy and needs to be socialized better to people.

Day 58- Tuesday, 2/27/24
She's so sweet when she sleeps and look at those super cute feet but when she plays she is super mouthy and has razor sharp teeth.  It looks more like I have a new kitten than a new puppy.  We're working on her learning to be more mindfully and gentle with humans vs toys.

Day 59- Wednesday, 2/28/24

This is supposed to be our last day of good weather for awhile and today did not disappoint--it was gorgeous out.  Thankfully here in the valley we won't get hit as hard as the mountains where they are expecting a huge blizzard that will dump tons of snow. After my work day it was nice to unwind while watching the start of a new Survivor season.  Many other shows that shut down due to the writer's strike are finally starting to air their new seasons so it will be good couple of months with way too much to watch and catch up on.

Day 60- Thursday, 2/29/24

The skies are angry today and the temperatures have dropped.  Rain showers are expected on and off over next couple days.  It's also a leap year and today is leap day.  Bailey was doing some leaping today as she played fetch.  She's so enthusiastic and great at it plus it's the best way to wear her out.

Day 61- Friday, 3/1/24

Happy March!  I still can't believe it's March already. Bailey had a set of shots she needed to get  this afternoon and that whole experience wiped her out.  She did well but is still super shy around others.  It will be easier to socialize her once the series of puppy shots are done and she can go out more.  TGIF!  Cheers to the weekend and a good movie to stream.

Day 62- Saturday, 3/2/24

This pup is 9wks old now and she weighs 12 pounds.  I can tell she's longer and taller plus has a more mature face and sleeker coat. We're working on getting her used to being alone in her crate/dog run for short periods during the day.  She's great about it at night but not so much in the day.  John and I left her (first time both of us gone since bringing her home) while we did a wine pickup.  It was nice for us to get out together and good for her to practice.  We left her some treat release puzzles to keep her busy and when we returned she was quiet (no whining or barking like she was when we walked out the door) and doing well so that was a success and we'll continue to practice each day.  While we were out it was crazy to see how high the river is now as we traveled up on the levee road.  This should be the last of the rain for awhile.  We can all use a break.

Day 63- Sunday, 3/3/24

Our tree out front didn't mind that rain and came into bloom over the paste few days.  I found this food bowl on Amazon to help slow the pup from eating to quickly.  It's not uncommon for labs to inhale their food without chewing which is not good for their digestion and this bowl helps a lot with that. It's pretty cute how she spins around the dish as she's eating to make sure she gets all the kibble out.  The past week I also worked on being more intentional about giving Rusty the me time he needs.  That first week with the pup stressed him quite a bit but he's doing better now and seems to have relaxed and adjusted to having her around.  Lastly, that storm in the mountains was insane and had roads closed for a couple days.  They're still digging out up there.  One of the ski areas had wind gust as high as 190 MPH!  Picture credit: Mario Tama/Getty images

That's it!  Hope to see you back next week. Justin will be comin home for spring break and can help socialize Bailey some more plus give Rusty extra attention.
