Week 12

Welcome back!  We're on spring break here and enjoying our time off.  No real plans, just trying to slow things down a bit and catch up on stuff at home.  It's actually nice having the week before Easter off to prepare, and we also have Justin's birthday which falls on Easter so I need time to put stuff together for that too--double whammy!  Hopefully we'll squeeze some good family fun in there as well.

Here's how last week went:

Day 77- Monday, 3/18/13
Today at work we made a huge batch of antigen slides.  This is tray 1 of 6.  It always reminds me of baking when I have to move these large trays around, but the end result isn't nearly as sweet.  At least we are able to sell the slides which helps bring money into the lab and helps keep my job funded.

Day 78- Tuesday, 3/19/13
Brandon thought it would be funny to spread wood chips all over the back walk, but I was less than thrilled so I handed him a broom to clean up his mess as a consequence.  Unfortunately, it wasn't much of a punishment.  He fussed at first but then ended up having more fun with the broom than he did without.  Boys!

Day 79- Wednesday, 3/20/13
Wednesday nights are brutal.  Why does everything have to happen on Wednesday?  Can't we share the love with the rest of the week?!  It was another day where I had to be in 3 places at once, and my tag-team partner was in Reno for March madness so something had to give.  Dinner was a quick grab and go.  At least the kids were happy with Subway.  Tyler's foot-long is in the fridge waiting for his return from an away swim meet.  I didn't see him until almost 9 pm tonight after one of my late meetings--Crazy!

Day 80- Thursday, 3/21/13
The mustard is in bloom.  I love seeing the huge yellow fields this time of year.  Brandon helped me walk Bella, and we couldn't resist taking a picture or two in all this spring glory.

Day 81- Friday, 3/22/13
This is one of Rusty's new favorite spots to bask in the sun.  We get great afternoon sun shining through the sliding-glass door, and when I can't find him after work, I know this is the first place I should look.

Day 82- Saturday, 3/23/13
I'm prepping for dinner and poor Justin is working on homework his first day into spring break.  He has a lot to do over the next week but is resourceful and made a plan to spread it out and pace himself.  He's a trooper and although he'd rather look out the window right now, I know he'll eventually get it all done and still hopefully have time to enjoy his break.  His biggest motivation is his birthday coming up at the end of it all.  He knows he'd rather have more free time then than now to play with all his new gifts.

Day 83- Sunday, 3/24/13
John and Tyler spent the afternoon fixing the fan in Tyler's room.  The switch went out, and Tyler has been without light for the past week.  Three trips to Lowe's and three hours later all is good.  Tyler learned a thing or two about how what seems like a simple home fix can quickly turn into a major ordeal--good life skills!

That's it for now.  Thanks for stopping by.  Have a happy Easter and see you next Tuesday.  We're expecting rain, but I'm hoping for sunshine.

  1. I ♥ that picture of you at work!
You're so good about including all sorts of different bits of life into your pics.
Do you print your pics at the end of the year in a book, or do you put them into Project Life pages, or do something different all together?

  2. Yes, I totally agree with Lisa...Big love on the picture from work. Are you in research? My oldest daughter also is in research at Baylor Medical Center. The last pic of John and Tyler working on life skills very cute. Unfortunately, we too had life skills to work on. The dishwasher handle broke this weekend and after a couple of trips and 36.00 later we are back on track. I love catching up with you every week. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR STOPPING BY!
