Week 52

Welcome back and Happy New Year!  It was a wet and wild entry into 2023 for us but all is good.  I hope everyone else had a safe and fun New Year spent surrounded by family and/or friends.

Here's a look at our last week in 2022:

Day 360- Monday, 12/26/22

Rain, rain, rain is what we dealt with A LOT this week.  I'm off from work all week but did have to run in first thing this morning to feed cultures quickly.  I'm trading off days to do that with another co-worker so it doesn't interfere too much with our time off.  When I returned from work the rain had started off nice and strong giving me a preview of what's to come. No one wanted to leave the house after that so it seemed like a good day to stay in and put Christmas away--always a chore I hate.  It's fun to put out but not so much to put away.

Day 361- Tuesday, 12/27/22

LOL!  You can tell the boys are less than thrilled to be up and out early this morning.  We needed to make a trip to the bank in Davis securing funds for spring tuition due next week and they have to be there in person to sign for it since it's coming from an educational IRA. At least we stopped at Starbucks for a quick warm treat.  Later, you can see Justin is much happier at home and Rusty has been camping out in this room ever since he came home.  If I can't find the cat I know where to look and 9 times out of 10 he's right there on that pillow near his favorite boy.  Then this is what Brandon has been up to--he got new lights for Christmas to put up in his room and spent the rest of the day hanging them not just in the room but also in his bunk cave.  There is a remote so he can change the colors and lighting patterns as well--pretty cool!

Day 362- Wednesday, 12/28/22

Dragonfly gifts were a thing for me this Christmas.  I got this pretty, light-blue sweatshirt and a beautiful lavender-colored journal both sporting dragonflies.  They are one of my spirit animals after all.  Also it's been very dark with the nasty weather so even though all the Christmas lights are put away we still have some neutral lights on a large house plant that help brighten and warm the home as needed.

Day 363- Thursday, 12/29/22

We braved the rain to head out and watch a movie in the theater today, and I gave these new winter boots I got for Christmas a try.  It's not too late for a Christmas movie, right?  I know it looks and sounds awful but it was actually really good.  In addition to the blood and language that was heavily marketed it also had some good messaging, was comical, and had a feel-good ending.

Day 364- Friday, 12/30/22

For the first time in a long time, and I mean years, I had my hair professionally colored and love the way it turned out.  Unfortunately, it's not a good weather day for nice hair. I had to put on a hood and face the windy rain with Justin's help to figure out how to get the pool pump to drain some water from the pool.  We've had so much rain with even more expected tomorrow that our pool is at risk of over flowing.  Thankfully Justin has a nice, big, new umbrella that helped protect us in this crazy rain and it didn't take as long as I expected to figure out the drainage process.  We actually got more cold out there than we did wet.  Later for dinner we decided to go out to Eastside Chef and have a nice warm Chinese meal which is always a good and fun family treat.

Day 365- Saturday, 12/31/22

Happy New Year's Eve!  We had fun eating finger food for dinner and chocolate fondue for dessert before playing games all night until we rang in the New Year with some bubbly.  Tyler and Lupe brought the games and added to the fun.  It was great to be able to celebrate with all the kids and to stay home on this really stormy night.  It was the worst night of the whole week with power outages and flooding in many local areas.  At least tomorrow will be dry before a new set of storm systems move in.

I'll post Sunday next week since it starts off the new year so that's a wrap for this year and good riddance to 2022!  We're feeling hopeful for a better year in 2023.
